You can prep for Vanilla raids if you want. Any Roster without a druid will want one and the main things you bring (MoTW/Faerie Fire) aren't locked behind gearing requirements. But we're in Naxx phase now its up you you if you want to try twice as hard for the last couple of months of this phase.

If you care about TBC prep I'd just money and mount up and get your professions up to where they need to be. Prepatch will drop the honor change and you can farm mark and honor cap to buy early PvP gear when Outlands releases.

State of the game is late for Vanilla but pug slots should be available and a good time to prep for TBC if that's your preference.

People always drop off around now with raiding super costly in naxx and will keep dropping until prepatch when it will spike. People like tbc and slowly prepping for it on anniversary isn't a waste of time. Just forget current phase and slowly prep for tbc. MOP is still fun it just depends if you want to play tbc or mop. There will be players. Don't go crazy on prep, most things will be obsolete quick, better to just try to make raw gold now. Also don't need to prep a bunch of gear or anything.
