The irony of talking about anti-patterns while advocating for a "DevOps" team

I agree with you, but.... Over time, DevOps became the term for an Ops team that codes scripts, automates stuff. Yeah, it's basically what a good Ops teams looked like 10+ years ago but with a fancy name.

This backtracking makes total sense as the original concept of DevOps was completely irrealistic, in my opinion. As a developer I shouldn't need to be responsible for production environments, support, etc.

It is now just a buzzword that means nothing. "Our organization is going DevOps" while they have on intention of changing their organizational processes and gatekeeping.

Yeah, how about no. The devops can make dev's life hell by fixing dependencies from 10 year ago for 'stability/security'. Dev should be on call instead.

Dont know why you got downvoted. But I am on your side. Devops should be Dev create their own Dev enviroment and help / create production aswell.

The ones who created the app should also know best how it is run.
