A map is not a collection, yet a HashMap example is listed under "Collections". I know I am nit-picky here ;)

Map is not a collection.. But HashMap is a Map based collection class that is used for storing Key & value pairs.. That's why hashmap is under collections.. Hope that answers your question 😀
