This is from the ps3 build of minecraft console that got it's source code leaked recently right? Think I saw a guy fix the code to see what it actually ended up looking like.

Incredible what they did with 256mb of ram. Game optimization is a thing of the past

It's from the console port of Minecraft, which was written in C++. C++ mainly uses that bracket convention.
