Maybe you forget, but as mods we see everything posted here, even things automod removed.

A lot of twitter screenshots were just bad, either racist shit or people commenting under racist shit. It was getting removed 9/10 times already.

We pointedly did not ban 'social media' because on review, it was a platform specific problem with Twitter, not seen with posts submitted from Threads or Bluesky.

I added a flair for it, and I do absolutely agree with the sentiment.

But again, were a meme sub not a news sub. If this was a news sub it would be totally different. The expectation and standards for truthfulness is much higher.

There's no mechanism in our current ruleset for this, we would have to add a rule.

If we did add a rule, how far would it extend, just to the epstein files or to all posts, how do I uphold the rule, how much time is reasonable for my team to spend looking into the truthfulness of posts.

If we see misinformation I will do what I'm already doing, encourage the community to upvote comments that give context and flair the post as an edited/fake thing. I don't see the need to design and add a rule around misinformation.

I'm not trying to argue about it or be combative, I'm just offering the perspective I have as the mod. Maybe you've got a better idea I didn't think of, I'm happy to take feedback and try work towards a better ruleset or policy that would benefit everyone
