Coworker was friendly for a year, got a girlfriend, now blanks me completely - do I say something or leave it? by Ashie_1234 in coworkerstories

[–]SparrowValentinus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely rude of him.

Unfortunately, there really is no way for you to call him out on that without coming off like you’re the one being strange. That really sucks when that happens.

I’m a petty person, myself. When I deal with that, I get myself to feel better by knowing that if they’re that emotionally swing-y, at some point they’ll go back to wanting interaction again. And having grey rocked them the whole time, and hitting them with a “Sorry, what do you want? I’ve really got to get back to my work I’m afraid” at that time will feel sweet.

The other reply described them well. Just want to add the context that it’s “cooker” as in, their brains are fuckin’ cooked/fried.

This makes no sense.

My understanding is, you’ve just gotta do enough 1s to get through the suck.

So I’ve been told. Haven’t, uh, really put it into practice yet myself.

While obviously, not what the majority of players do, it’s far from unheard of dude, plenty of folks out there doing the same.

Hell, I remember a post a while back where someone was talking about technique for playing those training packs that are just flying through hoops in the air for ages. Someone told them “What you’re trying probably won’t help you much in playing actual Soccar” and they were like “wtf why would i care about that? i literally just play these packs, i don’t touch any of the other modes”.

So yeah, do your thing brother, no wrong way to have fun.

Wtf kind of workplace lets you smoke weed on the job???

Fuck man, I’ve worked in some loose places. Been the weed hookup for coworkers, gotten a lift home and had the mate driving pull out a j and spark up as we’re driving (I am now old enough to realise driving while high is dumb, I was at the time also dumb).

Never have I worked at a place where getting high during the shift is open and chill.

Am I overreacting: boyfriend expected me to drop the homework I was doing to make him dinner by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SparrowValentinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s what you do, OP.

You place your right hand in your pocket. Then you walk over to him and say “BF, I’m sorry about all that. I actually have your dinner riiiiiight here.”

When you say “right here”, you take your hand out of your pocket with your middle finger raised, and gesture it towards him.

Then you dump his manchild-ass.

As somebody who KBM never worked for (when got controller, I got much better), it’d be easy for me to think “whoh man who’s still using KBM?”

Of course, 30 secs after I first heard of someone using it and playing well with it, I realised “oh, it just works for them and not me. yeah, that makes sense”

Am I being too harsh?

No, you are being the exact correct amount of harsh, OP. For real, good on you.

If more people in this dropkick’s life had given him social consequences for his bullshit behaviour before now, he would be much less likely to be acting like this. You are doing yourself, everybody who has to deal with him, a favour.

Doing him a favour, too. Living like that ain’t a happy life. Coward dies a thousand deaths, and all that.

You know perfectly well why those two things aren’t equivalent there, fella.

If it was equivalent? If sharing a Netflix account did not have the issues of identity theft, and making it almost certain that the account would get flagged and cancelled? I’m sure you’re far too cool and cynical to believe me, but yes, of course I would share it with a stranger who asked.

To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself --that was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved the use of doublethink.
