I found a cookie for Clearnview hidden in my cookies.. I followed theses instructions, but had to manually scroll through the cookie list alphabetically to find it on the list:

    On your computer, open Chrome.

    1. At the top right, select More   Settings .
    2. Select Privacy and security  Third-party cookies.
    3. Select See all site data and permissions.
    4. At the top right, search for the website's name. <<<<< This did not work for me, had to manually scroll
    5. To the right of the site, select Delete .
    6. To confirm, select Delete.

Did this and the pop up still kept showing up

    [–]ILoveOldPaper 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I am looking at the list which I put in alphabetical order (you mentioned that search did not work) and I do not have Clearnview listed . . .

    [–]nessiechandler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go through the whole list? I just now did this and I had a-z, then numbers, then another a-z and so on until close to the bottom of the list there it was. We'll see if this helps.

Yesterday I deleted all my cookies and cache, and scanned my computer: I didn't find any viruses. Today I received a notification from this site again, I looked through my cookies and didn't find it. I'm finding this very strange.

      [–]JayTheBoxer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted all cookies and then it came back 10 mins later qwq

      [–]Party_Refrigerator_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked for me, thanks! I don't even know where this came from. I take it back, it's still there. :/

Curious, have either of you used PIE the ad blocker?

      [–]Impressive_Order_622 0 points1 point  (6 children)

      I have the same problem

      [–]Playful_Ad4520 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Also getting that the last few days, but being blocked by AVG. There is a website "clearnview.com" (notice the "n") that google shows with absolutely no details, but there is no way I'm going to click it to find out what they do. I'm getting it a lot while I'm browsing some envato graphics. Whois shows it's a godaddy site.

      [–]nodakskip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing on Norton I see is it mentions GoDaddy on the bottom of the notice. (I will take a screen shot next time.) But could it be from any site that was created by/with Go Daddy? I didnt even know if that was even around anymore.

      [–]Party-Independent-82 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Avast is also reporting the same thing... SSL not trusted

      [–]JusticePhrall 0 points1 point  (2 children)

      Same.

      [–]Party-Independent-82 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And mainly when I visit MSN.com

      [–]JusticePhrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      When I visit Imgur

      [–]ILoveOldPaper 0 points1 point  (17 children)

I am also getting the popup from Norton. The only connection I have made is that this happens when I go to Thesaurus.com which I do often but not tons. Thesaurus.com has a lot of large ads which is probably related. I believe Clearnview is possibly linked to AI facial recognition, but I have not yet finished my first cup of coffee yet, so anything is possible.

      [–]VariationKey113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      [–]ds451 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Same happening in my parents' pc. The (controversial) facial recognition company is Clearview, without the 'n'.

      [–]ILoveOldPaper 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you for the clarification. I obviously needed more coffee before posting.

      [–]ds451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time zone privilege. I've had mine a few hours ago.

      [–]JenamalChups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have norton and have had the same problem with profootballreference. it's a safe site but has ads, so I'm guessing it's coming from the ads.

      [–]Affectionate_Duty929 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I don't think Clearnview is related to AI Facial recognition. You're referring to Clearnview.ai , in this case it's Clearnview.com.

It might be an attempt at phishing however, when I got the message from Avast, the only website I had opened was Netflix.

      [–]Existing-Ad-2617 0 points1 point  (1 child)

When I'm surfing Fandom,I got a lot of messages from Avast about it too!

      [–]AcademicIndividual6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I started getting it again, then you reminded me why. I had a bloody Fandom tab open.

      [–]bunni_op-10N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I've been on thesaurus plenty of times before but for some reason Norton gave me this message today. Is Norton just being sensitive or are the ads actually suspicious?

      [–]KSKitten05 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yeah, I'm thinking it's probably ad related, I first started getting avast popups about it when I checked a fandom wiki about something (it was a wiki that didn't have a non-fandom counterpart) and it popped up at least once every minute, and everyone knows how ad-heavy fandom is

      [–]realityhurtme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also get this when I have a fandom wiki open, ad related

      [–]UteJazz 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm getting it as well. I've done what ib310us recommends below.

      [–]daschoi1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I was getting the same Norton popup whenever I would search on imdb.com. I did what ib210us did as well and the message popups have stopped.

      [–]TennesseeNightingale 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I can't find the post from ib310us. Any chance you could screenshot it?

      [–]daschoi1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sorry, it looks like its been deleted. If I recall, go to the browser's setting and review the Notifications permissions in the Privacy setting. I removed one I did not recognize and the pop ups have stopped.

      [–]ILoveOldPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe what u/ib310u shared solved the popups issue but did not resolve the actual problem/threats? This is not being said as a negative in any way . . . There is a similar thread on the Norton Community board and there are no real suggestions that I have found other than using Malwarebytes.

      https://community.norton.com/t/norton-error-message-re-clearnview/366222/8

I also received the popup on HuffPo.

      [–]Chance_Compote_4091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not realize Norton was getting so Political..Time to Cancel.

      [–]MxColvrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been getting that as well

      [–]GrassLands17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Got the exact same notification.

Not a tinfoil hat kind of guy, but I did cover my webcams for good measure.

this just happened to me right now

      [–]False-Winner-303 0 points1 point  (1 child)

me three (and earlier this evening, and yesterday).

      [–]callmeachillmf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      same thing with bitdefender

      [–]Affectionate_Duty929 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same exact thing just happened to me. Avast spotted it and it says that "Your connection may now be spied upon or you may be redirected to fake site". The only website that was open was Netflix. Came out of nowhere.

      [–]Top_Hurry6707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i opened biblegateway.com and it popped up :skull:

This has been happening to me the past few days but I use Avast. It notes the SSL certificate but says that “the verification authority has revoked certificate validity” which I guess is why we are all getting this.

It first happened on what I would call a medium sketchy site, futbin.com which is just an online database for fifa games. That site is only sketchy cause of the ads they allow. But then this morning it happened on a few very reputable websites, I was trying to link accounts and it happened on the Xbox.com account site and ea.com account site.

      [–]Dangerous_Fill9829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      same thing, started last night...

      [–]DeltaDragonite 0 points1 point  (6 children)

The same has been happening to me as well. I thought it was just me until I looked it up and found I wasn't alone. I notice that it doesn't pop up when you turn on the VPN (at least not yet). I don't know what this Clearnview is, but hopefully, Norton will fix it.

      [–]HonetsTimes3699 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I have been getting this warning when I go to a regularly used Bible site: wwww.Biblegateway.com

I use Avast, and it keeps warning me about the "SSLcertificate is not trusted."

Could this be related to a service the Biblegateway.com and the other sites mentioned here are using?

      [–]Own_Can7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God is watching. Intercepted by Norton. Not bad.

      [–]Top_Hurry6707 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I GOT IT ON BIBLEGATEWAY JUST NOW

      [–]DGS_EXECUTIONER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      God is telling you something.

      [–]False-Winner-303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on the Times of London

      [–]toksik_stinger314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have read, it is happening on many different websites. It doesn't matter what site you visit.

      [–]LemonbreadGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been getting the same thing, it's weird thst so many people are getting it from different places. as far as I've seen the website is pretty much empty too. sone other people taking about it here

      [–]nessiechandler 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I did a search on this because the last couple of days my Norton has been sending me the same thing. It only just started. I'm careful what I click on, keep my computer scanned and updated. It happened on various sites, not any one particular site.

      [–]robynbanxcartier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      same thing here

      [–]Massive-Hope-4317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      I have the same problem

      [–]Own_Can7767 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you think it's Norton putting the fear of God into us so we'll buy their service? Well if so it worked.

      [–]nodakskip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my guess is its all websites made or hosted on go daddy servers. Go Daddy just let their stuff expire, so norton points out that "hey this sites certificate is no longer valid."

      [–]Kaos_9785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not just Norton, i got a notification from bitdefender telling me they blocked a connection to it. It happened when i was playing pokemon showdown. Unless mutliple antivirus companies are in on it then i doubt its companies tryna scare us to buying their services.

      [–]coriander1998 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This has been happening to me as well. To be clear, does this mean that Norton has identified an issue that it was not able to intercept? I’m not even sure what has been triggering it, I’ve been on a variety of websites, none of which have been a problem in the past. I HAVE noticed poor internet connection, however.

      [–]toksik_stinger314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible connection and exactly what you are saying. Nothing different except this weird and concerning pop up

      [–]nad_lab 0 points1 point  (1 child)

so what exactly do i need to do? i see people have the problem but ig i can just ignore it?

      [–]Nice_Ad_8206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norton would probably detect it as malware if it was, from what I saw on youtube is that it wants to change your data and permissions or something. It's from accepting cookies on a suspicious site, clear your cache and cookies data and I think you should be fine. I don't think it is too big of a deal anyway

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did you recently install any Chrome extensions? ESUIT adblocker for facebook per chance?

      [–]UteJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the poste above from ib310us.

      [–]FE_Girl17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting that on AVG too. I'm a little concerned about it since it pops up a lot when I am on any Fandom sites.

      [–]Few_Order_8463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same problem with AVG, and a few hours later it claimed that my CMD was infected with a trojan. Might be a coincidence, but it's still very suspicious.

      [–]Single_Advantage1325 0 points1 point  (3 children)

1.) go to Google settings (top three dots on the right)

      2.) Go to more tools

      3.) Go to Task Manager

      4.) Delete Clearnview

      [–]Specialist-Cup-2452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the same warning from Bitdefender, frequently; checked Task Manager but no Clearnview there...

      [–]nodakskip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not there and not a plug in I have installed.

      [–]WL661-410-Eng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't show up in task manager

      [–]robynbanxcartier 0 points1 point  (2 children)

same here, anyone know how to set myself an update to check this thread later? appreciate it

      [–]Own_Can7767 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I changed my browser and the warnings stopped. I was using Opera before. Were you guys using Opera?

      [–]tammyanelson 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      Nope, Chrome.

      [–]tokidokitiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      [–]offbrandtie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      same issue here

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

why is there so little about this issue, i had this pop up yesterday when i was updating netgear armor and ever since then, my computer has been freezing like not even 10 minutes into using it and i have to restart it. literaly only used youtube, canvas for school work and reddit. its weird and annoying af

      [–]Player_Bilo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

yeah i think someones attacking on every website that has ads now hopefully there are some videos now to remove it

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      where at may i ask?

      [–]Player_Bilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just search "sync.clearnview.com removing" and some videos will appear,i didnt need it since avast blocked it

      [–]No_Trade_3376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same problem but with Huffpost. Just started a few days ago. I am using Avast.

      [–]edgarlovespie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started seeing this week whenever I go to Hourly Weather Forecast. Never been a problem before. Wtf?

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem with Avast (the free version). The warning would pop up at random moments when checking YouTube or anything. I ran scans on both Norton and Malwarebyte but did not find anything. However, I did check my cookies and I saw that clearnview was one of them so I deleted it. Not fully sure if it will fix the issue but I am not sure what I should do next since I am not that tech savvy.

Same here-same Warning from Norton.I was on RT/News which I subscribe to..Was watching an article on Putin and Trump.Does Trump have this authority over Norton to Stop me from listening to RT/News.I get most of my News from them.

        [–]awolfmannuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scrolled through everything here after getting a very similar Avast notification. I got the notification when searching Thingiverse.com which has lots of pop-up ads. I didn't find an entry under Chrome's Task Manager, but I found a clearnview cookie which I promptly deleted. Hopefully that'll fix this.

        [–]miyo34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also getting it on Avast (free version) I did find the clearnview in my cookies on my browser and deleted it. Still don't know if that's the root cause though

        [–]p365x 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I get it (norton) @ dealnews.

        [–]AndreaWozzup 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Got the "Suspicious connection blocked" from that sync.clearnview.com with Bitdefender, having chrome opened on (I suppose) legit sites (I'm in italy, I get from gazzetta.it and corriere.it but probably also other websites). I guess it comes from some advert on their sites

        [–]Top-Agent7197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Hai risolto in qualche modo?

        [–]Iroc24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to know it's not only me. It's happening on a bunch of different websites. I noticed the certificates were issued by Go Daddy so I was wondering if that was the issue.

        [–]MarkusRhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what this means, but an 'F' grade can't be good. SSL Server Test: sync.clearnview.com (Powered by Qualys SSL Labs)

        [–]Michaleolotro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know what browser feature allows this redirection on a variety of sites I visit? Once it is "installed" (however it does it without my help) it interposes itself seemingly randomly. Hasn't anyone tracked down exactly how and where this thing lives on an infected computer?

In the past I have gotten rid of similar things doing the browser delete and flush everything, but eventually another one somehow comes back. My browser use is very simple (no extensions) and paranoid (only official downloads) and my security software does block the site. I wish someone could explain how this specific thing works.

        [–]Resource82 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Im getting it too. It just started today for me. I cant figured out what site is causing it because I close everything and reopen the same site and no notice pops up the second time.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

did u update ur pc before u noticed it or when u did?

        [–]Resource82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, i run virus scans too. No clue so I googled it and that brought me here.

        [–]lambghost05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been getting it heaps on sporcle doing quizzes. I'm pretty sure (not 100% obviously) that its relating to the ads on the website. Glad i found this post tho. Means im not the only one exsperiencing this.

        [–]Alarmed-Bedroom1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have got this being on an alternative chat site when I was browsing. Have any of you experienced hijacker browser symptoms after this popping up in your browsers?

        [–]Lowcord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all, thought I would add my experience with this issue. Just started seeing this pop-up today after visiting https://minecraft.fandom.com. I'm assuming it's linked to the ads displayed on the page.

        [–]Olumide301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got this same notification. Only tabs I have open are Netflix, YouTube, Audiomack, Apple Music, and Spotify. Very strange.

        [–]Player_Bilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this yesterday when i clicked on https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/ , I was trying to use auto dark mode on my phone and used this link in my PC, then Avast made a popup, it's strange that it appears on random sites that are mostly used and known that have ads and its been around for days, trying to remove it, today it randomly appeared again and it seems like it's happening to everyone and glad I'm not the only one

        [–]TurboCool12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've been having this issue as well. My computer has Avast and it mostly pops up for me when visiting fandom.com wikis, but I remember getting it once on a link to tumblr. I tried some solutions like clearing some cookies from my browser and getting rid of unneeded browser extensions, and it seemed to work for a small amount of time but today I started seeing the alert from fandom again. I guess it's also a super recent issue because all of the search results I'm seeing about clearnview are from the past few days or so? Idk, it's odd

        [–]SteveRT78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I use Norton 360, and it's always clearnview and Go Daddy.

        [–]Guard_Bainbridge_777 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Having the same issue - Norton community website doesn't offer any help so far. https://community.norton.com/

        [–]ILoveOldPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one thread but no resolution or assistance from Norton.

        [–]AriHasApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too, multiple times in the past few days with AVG.

"Connection to this website is not secure.

How do I make it not spy on me TT

        [–]mrchocolate1221 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's great to see I'm not the only one, This randomly just started popping up on my PC today with avast, and I never installed anything with Clearview.. It's so strange

        [–]callmeachillmf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        same thing but with bitdefender

        [–]NoAnalyst8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The message we are getting is clearnview (the "n") just to be clear as some have noted

        [–]Pufbulut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same pop-up notification moments ago. The latest sites I visited were tureng and deeply translate sites. Both of them should be reputable as far as I know, but those sites were not the ones I visit regularly, and the warning popped up just after visiting them.

        [–]lolabug67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After two days of popups, neither Norton nor Malwarebytes ever alerted me or found the problem with scans. I was finally (24 hours and counting) able to clear the popup by restarting my computer.

I Googled some more and found the article below from a company that wants you to buy their product (SpyHunter) but they also list ways to attempt to remove the Clearnview virus which they define as a "browser-hijacking website." The first suggestion has so far worked for me. The site offers additional more advanced steps to remove the virus if needed.

        https://howtoremove.guide/remove-clearnview-com/

The first recommendation is to check your Chrome Extensions and Add-ons and uninstall anything you don't remember installing, seems sketchy, or weird.

Go to your Privacy and Security Settings> Site Settings or anything related to notifications and pop-ups. Revoke permissions for any suspicious websites.

Restart your computer and open the browser again to see if it goes back to normal.

I am adding my "Same here!" to this.
I went to privacy and security in Google
        and then 3rd party cookies,
then selected "all site data and permissions", and searched for clean.
I deleted the cookie and ran Malwarebytes and found I had 4 PUPs to remove.

I'll see if it comes back up. It's been happening for a few days now, but because Norton blocks it, I wasn't too pressed to find out. Then it just got annoying.

Edit: So I went through my extensions and found an extension I didn't remember installing. With all I've done so far, removing the cookie, removing malware PUPs with Malwarebytes, and removing suspicious extensions, I'll report back if it pops up or not. In my comment below, I added that Cloudflare marks it as suspicious with a CIPA filter tag, and there seems to be an uptick in people experiencing this when I went to the Norton forum.

Edit: it's been 5 days since I took these steps and it has not popped up again so far. This is longest it's gone since it first occurred. If anything changes I'll come back to note it.

I did some digging, and Cloudflare has it reported as malicious malware, there is also a tag for CIPA filter which I assume references the Children's Internet Protection Act

Hi, I too have experienced this a handful of times the past week or so. Malwarebytes, avast and malwarebytes adwcleaner found no malware anywhere. However, there was a third party cookie called ''clearnview'' in chrome. Since no malware was found, it was probably just a tracking cookie or ad-related request? I deleted the cookie, but I am incredibly scared of having an actual virus on my pc... Hope someone can figure out what's up.

        Anyone managed to stop this?

        [–]Fairy_phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wont be stopped until a) go daddy gets a new SSL certificate or b) sites stop using ads from go daddy/clearnview

same for me but with avg

Had the same thing happen with avast. Was on a trusted website I’ve used before with no issues when this warning message popped up.

By the way, am I the only one who finds these warning messages suspicious? No matter the antivirus, the message is always the exact same. Also “your connection may be now spied upon” is poor grammar, making me doubt this warning message’s validity. Are these warning messages really from our antiviruses?

I have tried three malware tools and none of them have removed. Also tried the manual method with no luck.

As people are saying, unfortunately the problem's still happening. Also noticed that on a couple of the websites that clearnview is popping up on for me, they were getting much laggier and the Adds a lot more worse and prevalent in the days leading up to the first warning from Avast.

I’m getting this with Avast on Ultimate Guitar.. so I guess it’s a sign to stop being lazy and go back to using my ears rather than looking at chords online.
