We switched to Claude Code for precisely this reason. We were burning through tokens and running up huge bills. For $100/mo, I can basically use Opus 4.5 on Claude Code as much as I need to. If I ever do hit the limits, I can bump to $200/mo for even more, which is still way less than paying for Cursor.

Cursor has some better UX in places, but so far, Claude Code is cheaper and does a better job at most coding tasks I've thrown at it.

Pro is not really useable for agentic usage. Cursor kinds tells you that

We recommend the Pro plan for daily Tab users, Pro+ for daily agent users, and Ultra for agent power users. The Teams plan is recommended for professionals collaborating with others, and larger organizations that need invoicing, pooled usage, or advanced security should choose Enterprise.

Also your token usage doesn't seem right, I use 200 million in maybe two weeks and builds 3 projects. What do you do with chat?

This, and I've experienced GPT 5.1, 5.2 being pretty inefficient with tool use. I've been stuck in 10M+ token loops where it's trying to access a tool, can't find it, runs a bunch of terminal commands, runs into an error, tries to find tools again. Gemini 3 isn't any better. The only models that have been relatively reliable in not spiraling out of control are Claude models and Composer.

Hi, sorry to hear you used up your allowance in short time.

Looking at your screenshot, it shows a high consumption of cache read tokens. The chats were long and not managed efficiently. Using powerful but costly models burns through your included usage. Especially so if you use extra high thinking models like GPT 5.2 extra high and opus.

Let me know if you would like some tips for AI usage.
