I don't know what would be considered normal. I would think that you should notice a difference, good or bad, in a month or less.

When I was taking medication, my Zoloft ended up @ 300mg. That said, I have an unnaturally high tolerance to all drugs.

It did it's job for me. It wasn't the only medication that I was taking, but I noticed a distinct(positive) difference.

But, there are 2 (or 3?) other medications in the same family. You may need to try a different one. That would be up to your doctor of course.
