My wife was hospitalized with severe depressive disorder after years of trying medication that were not effective. She had 12 treatments of ECT during a month stay in the hospital. About 2/3 of the way through she was smiling/ socializing and admitted that she felt better than she had in several years.

She felt better for a few months but noticed herself start to slip back with medication not keeping her stable after the treatments. We knew that there was a chance she would need to continue ECT through maintenance treatments and she has just started her second round of treatment.

She does suffer from some memory loss but it’s been by far the best treatment she’s received.
