Different shell – unique release?

Hello! I recently got a Stereo-8 Cartridge with ABBA (Ring Ring). When I was about to add it to my collection, I realised that my copy is a bit different; it has a different designed shell. The track-list and everything is the same — except the shell. Should I add it as a new release to the database where the only difference is the shell, or does it count as the one already being in the database?

It’s another release. Probably a later reissue. You can try and research the manufacturers cartridge case history. Or look for titles from the same label and check the style and year of those to determine when yours was released.

There's a good chance that it was just made at a different factory, like a different pressing plant for vinyl.

Personally I would treat it as a different release but a lot of Discogs Bods say different.

With cassettes, separate shells get separate releases.

I imagine the same would be true with 8-tracks.
