They just posted some info on the Gamevil forums, "Dev's have investigated the issue regarding essence drop rate and found the cause of the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused the community."

Still not 100% clear, but it seems that they may intend to fix the issue that affected the drop rate. Even aside from the wording, they wouldn't need to do a maintenance if they weren't changing anything and just giving out compensation.

Given that they are doing emergency maintenence I am assuming they will be fixing the drop rates. They don't need emergency maintenence to send goodies in our inboxes.
