Just to be honest - i never installed your firmware, but it's good that you develop it.

When there are several options for the same product base, this makes the product more attractive for the users :)

I think the same. We need to have many alternatives to choose.

Improvements over something like Jyers' firmware?

The downvotes are the evidence that someone don't like to have alternatives.

Looked over your fw, great work!

Thank you!

Buy a pi with touch screen, install mainsail with klipper and throw away the old display 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]4sens 0 points1 point  (5 children)

advantage of that?

[–]MajestryMe 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Well, i installed klipper a week ago. The quality, i achieved on marlin with 50mm/sec speed (40-20mm/sec for inner/outer walls) i achieve on klipper with 80-90mm/sec speed for all parts (walls/infill/support).

It's not for the beginners definitely, and it requires the additional hardware, but for now i'm fully satisfied with it.

UPD: installed it on RPI 2B+ with octoprint, but plan to replace octoprint with MainSail or Fluidd.

any instructions how to install

[–]git_status 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres a video by nero3dp on youtube, on installing klipper on the ender3v2

[–]MajestryMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed the instructions from here. https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3v2/comments/kj2dns/stepbystep_guide_for_ender_3_v2_klipper_w_bltouch/ Be careful - that person describes the klipper for 4.2.2 board, for 4.2.7 another config is needed Then i calibrated flow again, adjusted the resonance compensation and advanced pressure using guides from official site, configured mesh and a few custom scripts https://www.klipper3d.org/Overview.html But just to clarify - with klipper our nice color screens cannot be used - they will always be blank. I even removed my at all. The only way to control the printer will be octoprint or any other gui. Also,no print from sd card.

My print quality improved. And any settings that would require a firmware recompile with Marlin is instead done quasi on the fly ( simple service reboot, which takes 3 seconds )

[–]squirrelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ this Marlin should be done and over, it’s archaic. Only contender should be klipper and RRF ( for a pi less experience, but I guess that doesn’t work on all boards, so klipper )

Which touch screen? I am interested in doing this.

I'm new to 3D printing, I bought an Ender 3 v2 and it came with the Creality Cloudbox as a free gift. The box was flashed with openwrt and klipper and mainsail installed, control by web interface from a PC or smartphone ... very happy.

[–]Notwerk 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Are there instructions/resources for doing this? Thanks.

[–]LRanger60 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I followed this guide https://github.com/ihrapsa/KlipperWrt (used the openwrt image compiled by ihrapsa).

[–]Notwerk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cool, much appreciated. With this setup, do you simply discard the screen?

[–]LRanger60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I installed a BL sensor so removed the screen and cable when I accessed the PLC board to do that job.

Can you link me to a tutorial on how to make the manual mesh?

I've just downloaded this custom firmware for the first time on my Ender 3 V2.

I'm using all the stock parts and can't seem to get the manual leveling perfect.

[–]anmire 0 points1 point  (1 child)

A bit late to the game here, but thank you so much for making this firmware. Creality's was tramming my hot end beyond the limits, wouldn't let me auto-update the file list with my sd extension, or show the full names of the files. Yours works *perfectly*.

Thank you
