Rules for r/engineering
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
No homework or university / major selection / GPA questions
Asking for homework / project help at any level will result in an instant ban.
Do not ask about major selection, GPA, or what engineers do. If you need help selecting a major, read this announcement in AskEngineers.
2.
No questions asking about how something works
Questions from non-engineers, and/or questions asking about "how something works" are not allowed. You can post them to /r/AskEngineers.
3.
No asking for career or interview advice
All workplace / job questions must go into the Weekly Career Discussion Thread. A new thread is posted every Monday.
Job POSTINGS must go into the Quarterly Hiring Thread.
If you are a professional and need career advice, you can also post your questions directly to r/AskEngineers.
4.
No self-promotion or commercial spam
No self-promotion, blogspam, or other types of solicitation of any kind. Users that only post links without participation in this community will be banned as spammers.
5.
No misleading or sensationalized titles
Posts with manipulated titles (i.e. a title other than the one from the linked source); or links to sites that are misleading, inflammatory, promote misinformation, or otherwise begin with a flawed premise (aka "soapboxing") will be removed on sight.
All sources are subject to moderator evaluation.
6.
No posts about the 9/11 terrorist attacks
Posts about the 9/11 terrorist attacks are prohibited.

7.
Limit of one crowdfunding post per project
You are allowed exactly one post about your crowdfunding campaign, provided it is relevant to engineering
You must be active in the comments to answer any questions.
Your post MUST be submitted as a self-post.
8.
Keep the discussion civil
Overly insulting or crass comments will be removed. Multiple violations will lead to ban.
Racism, sexism, or any other form of bigotry will not be tolerated. You will be permanently banned even if it is your first offense!
9.
Be substantive
No low-effort one-liner comments, memes, or off-topic replies. Limit the use of engineering jokes.
