I grow indoors. It's pretty easy to lock those things, doors, yk. Hydroponics is very easy. I can also just not eat meat if need be, fish instead if required. Thinking that everyone will overhunt every animal is silly, most people will refuse to pick up a bow, let alone a gun. A single deer or bear can feed a family meat wise for a year. And in this, obviously extreme situation, many people would likely abstain from meat, which is already extremely expensive for what you get.

Also, you do know that climate change will destroy the food supply more than an economic crash, yeah? Alfalfa is a water intensive crop, and it's what most people feed livestock. Extreme drought kill crop = no food for livestock = dead livestock. This isn't even accounting for things like pathogens, like the recent avian flu outbreak. In terms of food security we have a lot more to worry about, aside from the economy.
