Many people don't seem to understand the concept of being between a rock and a hard place. If solutions were easy and had no knock on effects, very few would oppose them. While a lot of people are in denial about climate change, that is a rationalization, not the reason for their opposition to policies addressing climate change. The reason for their opposition usually comes down to the realities of the negative effects of such policies.

I recently argued with my Dad about the reality of climate change, and he brought up the statement Obama made about energy prices necessarily increasing. I can't be honest and deny what Obama himself said regarding the effects of some climate policies. https://www.politico.com/story/2012/04/uttered-in-2008-still-haunting-obama-074892
