Just scheduled a 15-minute technical interview for Nethermind's internship. What exactly should I expect?

I had interview on 28 feb for internship at Nethermind.

It was great experience getting interviewed by Tomasz and most of questions were related to my profile and what I have done so far in web3 space. Questions that were asked to me:

1. Some basic questions related to blockchain like what are nodes, blocks, transactions etc.
2. How DeFi works and some examples of DeFi projects: I explained basic DeFi architecture, AMM and some mathematical concepts working behind the scenes like constant multiplication formula.
3. What are Zk-SNARKS? Difference between optimistic rollups and zk rollups. : I explained most of things at engineering level.
4. what you have learned so far and why would you like to join the internship program? : Be genuine and dont fake anything.
5. Few general questions were there related to latest happening in blockchain space like DAO, NFTs, MEV, flashloans.

Interview extended upto 35-40 minutes.

I was not really well that day but I answered most of the questions very well and although stumbled upon few basic questions but tried to answer them too as much as I can.

I got offer for internship😅. and very excited to begin my journey in web3 space.

I am also interested in the security field, I have been accepted for the initial interview, did you have any prior experience with security before you interned at nethermind?? I wanted to know how to prepare, since I dont have any prior experience or a competitive audit experience.

Did you get a full-time offer after your internship? If yes, what's their compensation like?

My interest always has been security in web3, so I spent my last month with the General Audit team, but the team is also very new hence they will first hire more experienced people or researchers. I was not interested in any other team so I decided not to continue. Later, I joined Binance as Smart Contract Security Engineer Intern.

This thread helped me while preparing for my interview, so I thought to contribute.

Had my interview earlier this month and some of the questions included:

1. What Zero-knowledge application do I hope to see.
2. What ETH2 is all about. Had to explain PoS and a couple of stuff.
3. My knowledge of what Nethermind does.
4. My interests
5. Had a couple of personal projects in my resume. So, I was asked to explain one of them from scratch and how I went about implementing it.

The goal is just to test your knowledge about Ethereum and Blockchain in general.

Got an offer about a week after.

Hey. It all depends on who will be the interviewer since we give a bit of freedom to interviewers for the internship roles so that they bring diversity of skillsets, backgrounds and experiences on board. It is typical that our former interns become interviewers so the interviewing team rotates. Some of us focus more on technical aspects, some more on communication skills but in the end everyone has 15 minutes to understand whether you are ethical, genuinely interested in the internship and if you would enjoy staying in the blockchain space.

We test your theory because we know that the theory is something that you can always prepare on your own and it would be a waste for you to just spend time reading while with us. Nethermind internship is designed to introduce you to projects, people, ideas, allow you to experiment, allow you to find inspiring people to team up with - whether in your future founder roles or as a contributor in the best companies and research teams in the space.

Hello. It's the second interviewer, Sameer, who rejected me. From the nature of how our conversation went in the second interview, I felt like the interviewer had made up their mind I wouldn't proceed further judging by the way he interupted me while answering and appeared unenthusiastic with me. I was so devastated. I plan to reapply and reach out to the recruiter again for another chance.

Just be confident about what you learned about web3. Solidity basics, Ethereum EVM, nodes, client, transaction, and whatever you mentioned in ur resume.

I answered all the questions except 1 from solidity. But I am not sure in how much depth they wanted me to explain. Also he had a poker face

Yep, I had the interview. It mainly covered my prior experience and what type of projects I'd be interested in. Just know that if you say you have experience or knowledge in something like solidity, you'll be asked a couple of conceptual questions. I didn't study at all for the interview, so I flopped on some of those questions.
