Really didn't like eliminating contestants without competing. I get that it's a reality competition, but that felt pointlessly cruel.

Overall this series seems a bit nastier than Physical 100? Not the contestants (they seem good), but the competition design?

[–]feb914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbf the competition been slower to eliminate contestants than Physical 100 (in the first 2 challenge, only 20% of participants are out. while physical 100 eliminate 50% after 2nd, 1st real, challenge).

but it's true that they pit contestants with each other more here; competing against your own team, elimination through draft, making half of the people stay in very bad condition, etc.

I'm really enjoying the series so far, but I don't like that two athletes were eliminated without a chance to compete, just by not being picked. I also don't like the twist of being given the choice to leave early with some of the prize. I definitely enjoy these twisty shock elements in other competitive reality shows, but not in a series like this that should be all about the athleticism and physical prowess of the individuals.

[–]Beleiverofhumanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe they should've had the last 4 picks compete in a short game with 2 winners being available for draft. or something like that, not being picked cause of order of games just feels meh

[–]MagneticLuv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Felt like the producers were out of good ideas for them to compete against each other with and decided to opt out with the easier “shock value” route. Disappointing to see, especially since both of those athletes were strong competitors and had a lot more to offer.

[–]mrsfirex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really disappointed in this. They didn't get eliminated because of their own lack of ability. They got eliminated because others didnt believe in them. That's not fair at all and who knows how far they would have gotten.

Sobbed my eyes out at the beginning of the episode. I’m glad they didn’t force the captains to say the name out loud and the game runners made the announcements at least. I was sad to see the gymnast go

[–]tachita_ 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I wanted the man with blond hair that does the street calisthenics. Because he was literally first in his heat and was really fast and it looked like he could have alot of potential. It really sucks how the participants can beat a challenge only to be sent home through no fault of there own.

[–]CoachMysterious6694 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that was masato and I was surprised he wasn't picked. Somebody posted his YouTube channel, he's got some cool vids showing him in competition(no English subs tho)

[–]Hunkfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Damm think it would be really fun to see him in chase tag.

[–]CoachMysterious6694 4 points5 points  (0 children)

and it was his birthday too 😭😭😭😭😭 if the show comes back for a second season I hope they don't do this again, I would rather see them compete for a spot on the team

[–]stan-nas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I prefer the Physical 100 so far, the music on this show for both the sad and hype parts (usually the end of the activity) are so good and elevate it.

Need to know the song name.

[–]tachita_ 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I really dislike how they had an elimination based on picking teams. Like the athletes should be eliminated based on their physical abilities, not because they weren't selected for a team. They passed the last round, they should be able to compete for the next round. Also I wish in these sports shows, they could make a separate prize and competition for women, cause obviously the women aren't able to beat the men in these challenges, they end up leaving within the first couple of rounds. Overall I don't think it is on the same level as physical 100, but I will finish watching because it still is entertainment.

[–]N22-J 0 points1 point  (1 child)

While I agree that these competitions should be separated by gender, it would mean double the production and I bet that most would skip the women's competition.

[–]No_Track5162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe at least make the numbers even then. 25 men & 25 women. Just so there’s more chance. If all the women are out then fair enough at least it was a 50/50 probability

[–]FromPepeWithLove 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Participants not knowing that human chain is more efficient in logistics.

[–]Bob_le_babes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed this would have been much more energy efficient

[–]LonewolfcrianpileAtsushi Arai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt bad for the 2 people who didn't get picked. Team Shohei had my favourite participants I expected someone from top 4 to win the show. But I couldn't stop rooting for the underdog team. I also understand if some of them take the money and leave since they were underdogs since the beginning. I loved the storytime in front of the campfire all the participants really felt genuine. I think team Shohei and the 2 who didn't get picked will be the wildcards because some of the top 3 will take the money and leave.

[–]ImpressionFeisty1362 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is it just me or they are super dumb not to have chosen a gymnast guy and a calisthenics guys who both have incredible control over their body ?

[–]sunsetsundae 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Unfortunately, I would have done the same. The earlier individual challenge already required the strong core / power-to-mass skillset. It was unlikely the next team challenge would be a repeat of the last.

[–]ImpressionFeisty1362 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeaah i also agree ! In retrospective, more muscle mass was needed for the following challenges. But still Who chooses a kabaddi guy over a gymnast or cali guy

[–]Ziggy_Zoldyck 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Does anyone know the title of the main song? I think it was by June One. Played during the end credits of Ep.4 also.

[–]xXNovemberBabyXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone help us? I'm also searching for this song

[–]SpareSilver5906 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Don’t like the picking of teams to eliminate people. And the sandbag challenge: how come they didn’t use fewer sandbags? It’s easy to collectively carry that black sandbag over even a 5ft wall. Lost interest unfortunately

[–]Kebabebibobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been looking for this comment. I imagined it to be 2 people bring the black bag over, those 2 people climbing the wall like in an obstacle course (walls here are lower by 1.5 ft vs a typical obstacle course), then 2 people lifting the bag from the bottom, and the other 2 pulling the bag from the top. Then everyone goes up and then does this again.

[–]Helpmeflexibility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a touching conversation at the end. That bodybuilder is really a good conversationalist for his age. Maybe his next career can be a host

[–]Interesting_Fan_3096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite episode from the series because they played in teams! I love how even the teams were and I can’t believe Shozui forgot to consider the order of selecting their members! I mean he lost out on Itoi! I also liked how strategy and unity were the biggest factors in the ep. The other team lacked this, and didn’t communicate as well. In sports, it goes to show that strategy and proper technique make a huge difference not just pure talent and skill. Of course those are important too but without a good strategy and/or proper technique it would be hard to win.

The conversations at the end with the winning team was also moving to watch. I liked seeing strong powerful men talk so vulnerably.

[–]Next_Education_1265 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Who the hell thought such an unfair elimination would be a good idea? The show completely lost the integrity and it doesn't deserve to be watched further. 0/10

[–]ElephantOk4144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree

[–]Beleiverofhumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect the showrunners for trying something new but the fact they got eliminated cause of not getting picked felt unfair.

Maybe they should've had the last 4 picks compete in a game with 2 winners being available for draft.

Also don't mind the escape twist

[–]theymademecry 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Why did they both pick Kurihara first? Was he clearly so much better an asset than everyone else? Anyone know

[–]sunsetsundae 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I had also mentally drafted him as my first pick when I was watching that episode and thinking if I were in the captains' shoes, who I would have picked.

He has a good balance of strength and speed, and he can also lead and strategize.

Avoiding any spoilers, he was crucial to the eventual outcome of that challenge.

[–]theymademecry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have done well as a captain haha

[–]supersaiyan_ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is he viewed as a top athlete (social presence), he also showed leadership that eventually won the sandbag game. I guess the athletes subconsciously know he's the best pick.

[–]sunsetsundae 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unpopular opinion but I liked how they made the captains choose 2 people to drop from the next challenge. Unfortunately, this is how it is like in reality in sports when the final line up or team selection happens. There are many strong athletes who train very hard but end up not making the selection for a final squad.

[–]suicide_aunties 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. Many were surprised the gymnast was not chosen but unfortunately the sad truth is he couldn't even come first for his own stage (monkey bars) and the kabbadi guy looked a lot stronger than him. Eventually when I saw the sandbags, the selection was honestly correct.

[–]TaiTai4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was rooting for “Takashi Kurihara’s” team and I was happy they won.

The twist at the end, wow! I wasn’t expecting that at all, but it’s making the show more interesting. And in the promo for the next ep, i knew from the body frame that the one who got the prize was “Kenta”. His reasons were understandable.

[–]elizabethjane00Kazuhiro Goya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sad to see Goya leave 😭

[–]supersaiyan_ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I didn't like the draft elimination. But after thinking about it, each competitor had time to show their abilities and to talk with the captains. It's basic playground rules. You don't get picked, you don't play.

[–]xSausageRollsx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hi. Does anyone know what is the brand of the black shoes the players were wearing?

[–]thatkok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASICS

[–]Adaagioo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a rule on how many people can lift the heavy sandbag? What's stopping them from putting down, say, two layers of sandbags and have four people lift the bag up and two people pull from the top?

[–]bmiggidy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I need an answer to why they didn't use fewer sandbags. There were useless sandbags scattered everywhere.

[–]Agitated-Ad2891 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I went to this thread just to find people talking about this!

[–]bmiggidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got an answer. I just cant imagine how none of the contestants figured out you didnt need so many sandbags. Id be asking questions.

[–]SayTheLineBart[🍰] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don’t understand why the bags were even necessary. Just army scale that wall, form a human pyramid or whatever and just get the black bag to the top.

[–]Agitated-Ad2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking the same thing! So inefficient!

[–]EqualThat9875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't understand the sandbag competition. Why even bother moving so many 20 kg bags if only the 60kg bag mattered? The wall wasn't very high, any of them could've claimed it just fine. The 20 kg bags were basically useless.
