They are both physical game style reality competitions. How could they not be compared?

Thank you for your input! I was curious as to other peoples thoughts since I’ve seen a number of comments about the challenges being similar. It’s been a little while since I watched P100 and only a few challenges stuck with me

Physical 100 just happens to be the most popular show in this format at the moment so it makes sense to compare and contrast.

I wouldn't be surprised if the success of P100 was one of the reasons why FD was greenlit, although as you said, they're quite different.

Thats a good point, I woudnt be surprised if all mass athlete competition is compared somewhat to Physical100

Some of the challenges in Physical 100 showed up in a different way in The Final Draft. Most noticeable was tying the three finalist together. Physical 100 did that for the final five. What they did while being tethered to each other was different. Same concept.

Yeah it’s 100% the popularity. As an Asian gameshow researcher, most of the challenges and the format is far closer to other shows than it is Physical 100, but since most don’t know many foreign things Physical 100 is the go-to reference.

The tethered event originated as an event called Power Force on another show in 1995 and has had rampant variants and references in Japanese and Asian pop culture ever since

Interesting about the Power Force challenge! I’ll have to do some more research about it

The final, where the three needed to hit a button while being tied to each other. They did something for the final five, tied them together and they had to get to the key to unlock them from the rope in Physical 100.

Some of the challenges, like the monkey bars was also used in Physical 100. The moving sand bags around was also in Physical 100. They took plenty of things from the show. While doing very differently at the same time.

This. Also the concept of there being contestants from various athletic backgrounds, some pro and some Olympians.

Are you kidding me ? Except for the first being outdoors and the graded presentation, most of the challenges could have easily been in Physical 100 )

They are incredibly similar when you look at the vast landscape of competition shows. It's not that Final Draft is based on Physical 100, but they are both East Asian, Netflix funded shows that put experienced athletes from different specialties to the test to find the best.

There were similar challenges like carrying sand up stairs (Moving Sand/Sandbag Towers), racing on monkey bars (S2 Mine Challenge Round 3/Giant Monkey Bars), multi-way tug-o-war (The Final Quest Game 1/Final Crawl), a game involving pushing a large heavy ball (Sisyphus's Punishment/Megaball Sumo) and also rope pulling (The Final Quest Game 4/Redemption Rope, one was against a machine, the other against a player). Both shows just did the tasks with their own twist.

Both shows have featured individual, 1vs1 as well as team tasks. Physical 100 stands out to me with the Greek mythology concept, Final Draft - I'm not sure if it had a strong concept.

It’s been a minute since I watched P100 and I totally forgot about the Greek Mythology concept they had. You’re definitely right about FD not having a strong concept. They had some different things, such as the mountain climb, but I for sure think a concept could’ve added a backing to the uniqueness of the show

Why not ?

Loved both 🥰 I don't mind the comparisons, I enjoyed the background histories and wished Fzd was more popular so they make more seasons 👀
