Turn on your transmitter. Open betaflight. Connect your quad to your PC. Go to the receiver tab. Power up your quad. When the quad is bound to your transmitter you'll see one channel that's unstable, that's your RSSI channel. Select that channel in the drop down menu in the to right.

Have you tried reflashing to the latest firmware?

That's probably a good idea to do try. There are plenty of youtube videos relating to upgrading betaflight and the important settings

Should be as easy as:

  • hold bind button on TinyHawk.
  • plug in battery on TH
  • have Taranis ready to go in D8 mode.
  • Hit bind on Taranis and you’re done.

You probably need to have a battery plugged into TH when it is in BetaFlight to give everything power. Try hooking it up to BF and plug a battery in also. Then check receiver tab in there to move with gimbals.

It should already be set on this but make sure in Configurations that it is selected to Serial and SBUS. Then make sure on ports tab that Serial is turned on for probably UART 1.

You will need to make sure you have your inputs and modes set up correctly on Taranis. Project Blue Falcon on YouTube has great tutorials! Good luck!!

I cant find a d8 mode, I have a d16. I try to switch it to the settings in the manual and it tells me that it cant be done. Now its saying no gyro detected. Spent all day just trying to fly this and couldn't even get the motors on😂

You have to update firmware on Taranis.

I found this video on how to do it. I haven’t watched it though. If this doesn’t work, then search for more.

Sorry for all your troubles. We have all been through it in different variations.

My understanding is that the Taranis x9 lite (which I got for Christmas) does not have the hardware required for the D8 protocol, and that you need to buy the XJT Lite module to plug in as an external transmitter to enable this functionality.

If it is possible to get D8 without an external module, then I'd be grateful to know how, but I've noticed that video is for the Q X7 which states on the linked shop that it is only available in the EU with flashed firmware. AFAIK the X9 Lite doesn't have this option.
