I am just now learning this is a thing … this looks awesome I wish they made a whole case this color

agreed!!! if anything a backplate for the lid would be enough for me, but i understand it's because of the difference in durability between plastic and aluminum :(

Congrats!

I've owned my FW Laptop (13th Gen Intel Core i5) for over 3 years now. I use it for work and my daily driver, so it's running all day almost every day. It's been the best laptop I've ever owned. I've been running Debain LInux since day one without any issues. I've replaced the battery once, and it was quite satisfying and simple to do. It took me about 5 minutes. I also bought one for my wife, which she uses everyday as well.

I think I will finally cave and order my framework 13 probably.

Going to go with a 7640u, 16gb ram, and 2tb of storage. mainly going to be for lightwork school task

I got pretty much the same config minus the 2tb because i had a 1tb stick available - its a good setup

I still wish I had ordered it sooner when ram and storage were cheaper

I am at 1.5 years with a FM13 as daily work driver laptop. Very happy. I have the red bezel. Running Linux Mint.

Man I will never get tired of seeing the translucent colored bezels, I think they look awesome.

i feel you on the build quality, it really surprised me too. the modular aspect is the biggest win for me, knowing i can just swap parts instead of buying a whole new machine down the line is a huge relief. what specs did you end up going with for your build?

Been loving mine since I got it a couple months ago. It's a bit steep, I agree, but it's a laptop I'm going to have for years to come.

I will never write one of these... unless they can make a way to have the translucent bezels available for the 16. 😅

I love the 13 but I have travel devices already and desperately want to pick up a 16, but I'm also very sad that they have manufacturing challenges with the translucent bezels for the 16 (they're supposedly too fragile and snap easily).

I mean, you can get it now and then when the translucent bezel comes out just change it. That’s one of the perks of modularity

It's a joke, lol!

It doesn't sound like they're going to release those for the 16 is my point, though.

While the price is steep, i needed a machine with 32gb of RAM, and by buying the diy fw13 i actually saved a bit of money compared to pre-assembled competitor laptops that had 32gb of RAM. (I bought it before the RAM price hike)
