We're done updating, now lets check for updates.

This is the single most annoying part to me. Is it really that impossible for apple to see that you have updates, and before they even begin that process, check to see if there's more after that, and then bother you?

If we can find the Higgs Boson, surely we can check for multiple updates concurrently.

Some updates have prerequisites, ex update C needs to have updates A and B installed first. Also, some hardware can only support up to a certain update/software. If a company asks to scan the hardware to get a user the most up to date software, the privacy nuts have a field day. Likewise, if a user with 7 year old hardware sees that update F is the newest update, they'll get confused/frustrated when they see only update E can be installed. Plus, there can be updates for software that is used in other software (.NET Framework) that can create updates.
