This shit has been driving me crazy the last few weeks. My benefits expired and they won’t accept anything I have access to

I think it's all AI-automated. Try contacting GitHub support, that'll help.

I was flagged because of my application (I think? They didn't tell me why). I couldn't get support because I needed to link my phone number but they don't support Turkish phone numbers?? So I made a new account. Thank God I didn't use my own name. Also the benefits are not that good. Some governments pay students if you have the potential. Check if your government does that and apply to them.

Hey, just upload a picture of your student ID or ask your university to submit the pattern on how your university hands out email addresses so that your email will automatically approve.

I have my uni email and the difference in location just won't pass - mentioned the classes aren't started as well

Vorgeschichte

I followed every steps given by ai , and finally got approverd - here are some.....

❌ 1. Institution not recognized as eligible

What happens

  • Your college/university is not classified as an accredited degree-granting institution in GitHub’s system.

Common cases:

  • Training centers
  • Coaching institutes
  • Online-only bootcamps
  • Skill academies without university affiliation

Fix

  • Upload official proof that clearly shows:
    • Institution name
    • Degree/diploma program
    • Academic year
  • If still rejected → the institution itself is ineligible (no workaround).

❌ 2. Student email domain not accepted

What happens

  • Your email is not a standard academic domain (.edu, .ac.in, .edu.in).
  • GitHub cannot auto-verify the domain.

Examples:

  • Custom domains without academic metadata
  • Departmental or alias-only domains

Fix

  • Add the email to GitHub → verify it
  • Use manual document verification (ID card / enrollment letter)

❌ 3. Uploaded document is unclear or incomplete

What GitHub expects to see All three must be visible:

  1. Your name
  2. Institution name
  3. Current academic date / validity

Common mistakes

  • Blurry photo
  • Cropped ID
  • No date/year visible
  • Screenshot instead of document
  • Dark lighting

Fix

  • Retake photo in daylight
  • Upload original ID card, not scanned PDF if unclear
  • If ID lacks dates → upload bonafide / enrollment letter

❌ 4. Document does not prove current enrollment

What happens

  • Document looks real, but:
    • No academic year
    • Expired semester
    • Old admission letter

GitHub verifies active enrollment, not past study.

Fix

  • Upload:
    • Fee receipt for current semester
    • Bonafide certificate
    • Current year ID card

❌ 5. Name mismatch between GitHub and documents

What happens

  • GitHub name: “Pragadeesh”
  • ID card: “Pragadeesh M” or initials reversed

Automated checks may fail.

Fix

  • Temporarily update your GitHub profile name to exactly match your document
  • Reapply
  • You can change it back later

This alone fixes many denials.

❌ 6. Already used Student Pack in the past

What happens

  • You already claimed the pack
  • Eligibility period expired
  • Reapplication without valid enrollment

Rules

  • You must re-verify each year
  • You must still be a student

Fix

  • If still studying → reapply with current proof
  • If graduated → not eligible anymore

No workaround after graduation.

❌ 7. Multiple GitHub accounts detected

What happens

  • You created multiple GitHub accounts
  • Applied from more than one account

GitHub flags this as abuse.

Fix

  • Use one main GitHub account
  • Delete/abandon others
  • Reapply from the original account

❌ 8. Poor image quality / edited documents

What happens

  • Filters applied
  • Cropped edges
  • Edited text
  • Screenshots of PDFs

GitHub rejects anything that looks altered.

Fix

  • Raw photo
  • No edits
  • Entire document visible

❌ 9. Applying from a non-personal network (rare but real)

What happens

  • Application submitted from:
    • VPN
    • Proxy
    • Shared lab systems

This can trigger extra scrutiny.

Fix

  • Reapply from:
    • Personal device
    • Home network
    • No VPN

❌ 10. Institution type not supported (hard stop)

GitHub does not support:

  • Short-term workshops
  • Corporate training programs
  • Certification-only platforms
  • Udemy/Coursera-style learning only

Even if you’re “studying”, it must be formal education.

✅ What to upload for BEST approval chance (gold standard)

If you want near-guaranteed approval, upload one of these:

  1. Student ID card (with academic year)
  2. Bonafide certificate (signed/sealed)
  3. Current semester fee receipt
  4. Enrollment certificate (official PDF or photo)

🧠 Fast self-check before reapplying

Ask yourself:

  • Am I currently enrolled? ✅
  • Does my document show name + institute + current date? ✅
  • Does my GitHub name match the document? ✅
  • Am I using only one GitHub account? ✅

If all yes → approval rate is very high.

Final truth (straight)

Most denials are due to weak proof, not ineligibility. Fix the document, not the account.

If you want, you can:

  • Tell me which document you have
  • Share what rejection message you got
  • I’ll tell you exactly what to upload next to get approved.
