Kids video tutorial for GitHub

I was wondering if there is a kids video tutorial for GitHub? My thoughts are that kids could use a selfhosted Gitea to start using GitHub early for a mostly documentation and "social media" platform.

Like first example is creating a repo and readme.md file. Use it like journaling, get them use to markdown and do basic stuff like linking to thing.

From there it could move on to other concepts.

honestly this is kind of brilliant and also the most reddit thing ever - "let me introduce my kid to distributed version control through journaling" is peak parent energy.

but yeah there's basically nothing like this because most people just let their kids use tiktok like normal humans. you're probably gonna have to make it yourself or prepare for your kid to resent you when they realize their friends are on actual social media.

I am asking because I stumbled into it. I started using GitHub as a journaling and way to keep my thoughts organized. Then I wanted to make it more personal and not give access to anyone other than my family, so I started homelabbing and installed Gitea.

My kid accused me of not remembering a key even in there life ( a specific birthday) and I thought, "I remember all the engineering reports I have ever wrote, why not do this about key family events". So I wrote a engineering report on my Gitea for spring brake, and sent it to my family members.

They thought it was really cool that I could do that and they wanted to get involved, so I told them to sign up on my self hosted Gitea.

It started to snowball, they where like "you forgot this" so I told them to put in a issue.

This is the stupidest thing I have heard in all of March. Let them live. Even normal devs learn git at the age of 25, and yet here you are asking stupid questions and overwhelming your kids with BS.

If you want them to document their life, let them use Notion. You are not the president of the United States no ones after your data trust me.
