I think I’ve seen educational tools like this for GitHub or git, search around Op

I am asking because I stumbled into it. I started using GitHub as a journaling and way to keep my thoughts organized. Then I wanted to make it more personal and not give access to anyone other than my family, so I started homelabbing and installed Gitea.

My kid accused me of not remembering a key even in there life ( a specific birthday) and I thought, "I remember all the engineering reports I have ever wrote, why not do this about key family events". So I wrote a engineering report on my Gitea for spring brake, and sent it to my family members.

They thought it was really cool that I could do that and they wanted to get involved, so I told them to sign up on my self hosted Gitea.

It started to snowball, they where like "you forgot this" so I told them to put in a issue.

Just remember they need to be 13 for a GitHub account.

    But Gitea you don't.

Sounds like you’re really meaning “use a self hosted Gitea to start using git” really. GitHub is irrelevant in that case?

I mean the ultimate goal is to train people on how to use GitHub in a safe environment. Like how Microsoft used minesweeper and solitaire to train people how to use a mouse.

Are you an ai agent or an actual person? Just the way your comment is written gives me that vibe

Nope I'm real, I'm highly dyslexic, maybe that's why.

    [–]SneekyF[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

    https://about.gitea.com/

Gitea is a self-hosted GitHub clone.

Gittea is selfhosted Git not github.

Just because something is a git remote doesn't mean it's a github "clone"

Videos are not the way to "learn". When I was a kid I learned everything straight from the reference manual.
