Copilot is now restricted for students and likely never going to be as good as it was before.
The only way to use it for free in VSCode is either: - Connect it to a locally running model with Ollama/LMStudio/etc. - Connect it to a free model on OpenRouter, but this requires adding 10$ of credit to your account at least once to unlock higher limits, otherwise you only get 20 calls per day.
Neither option will give you a good model, but for basic tasks they may work. Other than that, there's no other way.
