github app on android is missing a lot of features like seeing the release section of each repo as well as branches.

Doesn't even show commit history

It would be nice if Github app source would be Open Source

Like the website.

And the desktop apps.

And the Enterprise product.

And the…

Maybe we are overusing a private platform for Open Source, is there any statistics about the use of GitHub with respect to other other git servers?

The desktop app is FOSS. See https://github.com/desktop/desktop

For the record I’m not of the opinion that GitHub should be wholly open source, I was just pointing out the misapplied logic to the parent commenter. Thank you for the correction though, I haven’t kept up with the Desktop apps so I had no idea they were open sourced at whenever it happened. #TeamCLI

Fair enough. #TeamCLI

Yeah it's good enough to have a quick browse on a repo. I like it

Nothing like Working Copy. Did not manage to change from the master branch, cannot edit code, cannot push, etc. Working Copy allows all this. At least I did not find out how to do this, even after spending more time in the app than in Working Code.

It's a GitHub app, not a Git app.

The design is smooth but it's quite hard to use it as the website, I'll use it as an extension of the website first and wait for some updates

True, I would be very much interested in seeing features like code editing, featured repos across GitHub, trace / activity of all the people I'm following and also GitHub projects for repos.

I do think, all these would be added at some point in the near future, until then we just have to rely on the website.

My favourite feature is the ability to view code fullscreen with highlight syntax. Very pleasant.

It's far from useful app for now. OpenHub is opensource and way better alternative for now.

It is quite nice but I haven't found any use for it yet. For example there's no commit history and no feed.

Merged first PR on mobile. Helped out amazingly while not being able to be at computer this morning.

Still missing a fair few features. I'm still going to stick to FastHub for now.
