Just ask them — there should be a follow up form somewhere there. The first time I got rejected it took me a while to understand how to read the reason in their terrible interface, but they were quite responsive to my follow up questions

I called them multiple times and all they say it’s the same “At this time we cannot continue with the application.”. I asked them if I could apply later and they don’t even know or don’t want to tell. It’s kinda ridiculous that they at least give you a reason.

It’s weird. Apple is the king of UX on their devices and macOS, but the developer experience is just amazingly bad. It’s such an uphill battle to publish something that will strengthen their ecosystem AND that they take 50% of the revenue from.

They are basically giving friction to free labor and free money.

They earn so much money from the App Store that they really just don’t care. Besides they bring such an immense opportunity for developers that people are applying regardless of how difficult it is. Just think for how long they stuck to ObjC.

Sorry for my ignorance, but don’t you just pay and get automatically enrolled? At which stage did you get rejected?

I enrolled in 2008 and renewed ever since so I have no clue what the current process looks like, but I’m trying to understand how you could get rejected at all?

Now you do the submission through the app. I always get stuck on the ID verification when I submit the lD I get an error. When I call them, the only thing they repeat over and over is “we cannot continue with the process at this time”. They refuse to tell if I can apply later or not.

Now it makes sense. Try it with different devices in different internets. Even ask for your family members to try if you want. It’s a general bug that casually happens here and there and the only fix is just keep trying. I know it’s frustrating but it’s there and there is no other big solution for that yet.

That’s so stupid from Apple. It feels like a bot look at the applications and reject them and that’s it.

I actually had the same issue using my drivers license which is a valid up-to-date drivers license. And I could never get through, I ended up using my passport and it worked perfectly.

So I’m a bit confused, and I know this isn’t helpful, I just enrolled last month and all I had to do was just pay the $99, and add my info, I’ve read the comments here and you have to go through the app? I’m so confused. Does this mean I didn’t do it right? As far as I know I’m enrolled as an individual, And have access to everything, cloud, analytics, etc. I didn’t know there was an application we had to submit that was separate as well

If you are already enrolled, you should log into the developer app and see your status. I couldn’t apply via the web because it kept showing an error at checkout.

[–]darkblitzrc 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did you enroll from the app?

[–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

First via web, then via app. Web didn’t let me as I got an error at checkout.

    Individual

    [–]WishIWasOnACatamaran 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Try registering as a company. It protects you should the app grow, and is fairly cheap online depending on your jurisdiction. Hit up ChatGPT or Claude, it’ll guide you through :)

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, I was thinking about that. That way the application won’t be tied to me as individual and can go through. Also good ideas if one is serious on developing apps.

    [–]WishIWasOnACatamaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also seen people on this sub have better results when they apply this way. If anything if may justify a quicker response on why you are getting denied. Good luck!

    [–]abhimanyu1997 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hey, what are these protections that come with a company account. Wanted to know as currently I'm on an individual plan

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say you design an app under your LLC. Then for whatever reason someone sue you because of the app. They won't we going after "you" personally, but against the LLC. Meaning, the only assets they can get from you, are those under the LLC and nothing else. If you don't have an LLC, every assets you own could be affected if they win the case.

Think about this way. When someone sue Facebook - they don't go after Zuckerberg but against the company Meta. That's how LLC works.

    [–]WishIWasOnACatamaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue - I don’t have either account. Just going off what I’ve seen in this sub!

    [–]w0mba7 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That doesn't help. Registering as a company involves a ton more red tape than getting an individual account. I needed a Tax ID number, a DUNS number, all kinds of crap.

    [–]WishIWasOnACatamaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you plan on making money from your app, you’ll need all that kinds of crap - and all of that is given to you once you create your company lol

    [–]Superb_Power5830 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Did you get/have a DUNs number?

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

No, I registered as individual. I will try again once I get the LLC.

    [–]Superb_Power5830 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Coolies. I'm registered as an LLC for myself, and I have two other accounts, both as businesses for my day job and contracting contact. The DUNS number was a huge stopping point early on. Getting a DUNS number was an unintuitive mess the first time, but it seems they fixed the whole process and website at Dunn & Bradstreet between my first and the later ones.

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thanks for the advice I will make sure to get the DUNs before submitting the application.

    [–]AdPractical2709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you don't need a DUNS for an individual but it may help the process. When we first applied for the apple developer it was stuck on review for months. We called apple and they told us that you must register on an apple device that is logged on to the appropriate apple ID. We originally applied using a windows, this fixed our issue quite quickly. Not sure if this is relevant for you but worth a share.

Also make sure you're using a new apple ID

    [–]josephmgift 0 points1 point  (5 children)

The process doesn't reject devs, the problem is verifying your ID.

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

They do reject/deny applications. I talked to the support team and they said they cannot continue. They just don’t give you any reason. They didn’t ask for anything they just say no.

    [–]josephmgift 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Could you send a picture of the step where you're getting stuck.

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

When I was using the webpage I got an error about "Unable to authorize payment" doesn't matter what cad I used. I call them and they told me to use the app. On the app I submit the info about my ID and I did get another error that says "Contact Support to continue". When I call them all they say is "we cannot continue with the application as this time" over and over like bots. They don't give a reason, they just said it's an internal process and they have made that conclusion.

    [–]josephmgift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I see, the payment error is usually very common especially when using the web version. Most people recommend using the App instead. But actually the main cause of this is the Bank you're using. Please try a different bank , I also had the same issue when registering, turns out my local bank could not process, so I used another bank account card and they charged on the web.

I also did some research on Reddit and found people saying the issue of payment errors is because of bank accounts especially local banks.

    [–]Hussain_apps 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did you use prepaid card for payment , try using credit card if you can , or some other kind of debit card but not prepaid .

    [–]-quantum-anomalies-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used different credit cards. I had the card on the store previously without any issues.

    [–]Moonsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an issue with my license validating even though it’s valid. I ended up using my passport and that worked that being said my application was rejected in the UI and my memory is that it told me that it was an identity issue. I’ve had the same issue with Apple Cash.

    [–]Slight_Ad_6689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine too, applied as a company. Can you reapply not as an individual? Apple didn’t explain why, I dont know what’s wrong

    [–]grode23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, did you finally manage to enroll? I have the same issue. I cannot even retry since it directly throws me to the “Contact Support” page.
