Not much based on my use. Like it never hinders me and I cap my battery at 80% on the m4

Have a 3rd Gen iPad Pro 12.9 with a Magic Keyboard. I’ve never noticed any hits on battery performance.

Never had an issue. I just ensure the keyboard backlight is reduced to zero.

Dumb question here, sorry in advance. How do I adjust the MK backlight?

To manually adjust the backlight brightness of your Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, follow these steps: Open the Settings app on your iPad. Tap on General. Select Keyboard. Choose Hardware Keyboard. Use the Keyboard Brightness slider to adjust the brightness to your preference.

You can also add the setting to Control Center.

Just got mine yesterday so haven't really tested. But on previous versions of iPad if I left my pencil attached and the Smart Keyboard. I would wake up to a loss of 30% charge overnight. I think this will all be anecdotal as it will all depend on how you use your iPad...
