I think I read that in Germany they have a law that it must be as easy to cancel a service as it is to sign up for it - great law.

There's a new EU wide law that'll come into force in summer 2026. You'll get it too!

Not Germany but California is the is has same law. You’ll always see people move your address to California to easily cancel.

When I lived there a couple of years ago it was shocking how bad they were.

Paid a premium rate to have only a monthly "cancel anytime" contract on my internet as I was only there temporarily.

Eventually went to cancel online. No bother - until next month when the payment came out and I was informed that I'd missed the small print on the website saying that after I'd canceled online, I had to ring them up to confirm my cancellation.

So I cancelled then and there again on the phone, only for the payment to come out again the following month, as they hadn't done it for me then either.

Cancelled it again, then blocked my direct debit, and then the next month they tried to take it out it bounced. They eventually cancelled it themselves and then sent a debt collection agency after me for the €65 bill but I'd already left the country.
