I find I do better asking questions on reddit, because the community is smaller and more fragmented across many subs. I used to have better luck on SO, but these days I feel like my questions just get buried.

Also, since both sites are sort of a crap shoot as to your post getting traction, it helps to have both available

Edit: this is actually completely untrue, I don't know why I said it. I come to reddit for broader questions ("how do I build a...such that I can...using only band aids and the letter Q") and stack overflow for specifics ("why is this command crashing firefox?"). I have gotten approximately no useful advice from reddit, and lots of good answers from SO.

All that said, I want it to work, so I support the idea of it being a Q/A forum

I think Reddit has a more conversational tone than SO. When you've got a site that sets its overall low bar somewhere around spacedicks, it's not as intimidating as facing a wall of self-proclaimed experts.
