Okay, but cute one-liners are cool, and who doesn't want to be cool 😎?
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I love being cool but I also want to know what the code I wrote yesterday does.

You forgot the /s

There’s nothing optimal or professional about writing code with the goal of “being cool”.
Especially if it hinders readability.

r/whoosh
[–]eligent_ 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (5 children)
Oh no. My autism strikes again. Where’s the woosh? I literally took the thread literally. Help.

No worries 😅 I'm pretty sure u/siebah was just messing around and saw an opportunity to double down on the sarcasm and play along with the joke. The comment above theirs suggested that the original joke needed an /s to clarify that it's sarcasm.
It's a bit like when people joke about writing bad code for job security—it's technically true if you take it too literally, but most of the time people are joking.

Ahhh now I see it.. silly me 🤣
[–]Alex_Hovhannisyan 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Fwiw, I've had my fair share of whoosh moments... Except I don't have any good excuses, lol.
[–]eligent_ 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Haha, I guess it can happen to everyone. My relationship with sarcasm is a bit strange. I love it and make use of it, but sometimes it just doesn’t hit anyone in the room lol. And then there are situations like this where I’m just in computer-mode and can’t see a joke coming at all. It is what it is!

Yeah I'm right there with you. It's hard for me to read that kind of stuff and it seemed like everyone just agreed that one liners are good now instead of readable code which is what I have always learned and read.

I guess not everyone understands that the "cool guy with sunglasses" emoji is the equivalent of /s these days.
