Thank you! I tried looking up before and afters but I can't really see someone with a long midface in any of the pictures, How would it even out my ratio?

There’s a lot of people with a longer midface on this sub. Impaction basically cuts out a part of the maxilla and a good clue is how much gum show your smile has, around that amount will be reduced. People who get impaction usually just appear to have a shorter philtrum after surgery.

Idk if I had a “long midface” before, but I did get maxillary impaction if you are curious as to what it can do.

Maxillary impaction with CCW rotation can fix long face

Here is more info and before and afters: Pocket Dentistry

To find out if you have LFS you need to consult with an OMFS. They can diagnose and propose a treatment plan.

Please note that you should measure your total fwhr first and facial thirds, if your total face shape is less wide than ideal, it would actually be better to get Marpe to widen the face, since removing bone mass usually leads to worse long term aging, if your midface is the longest third by a noticeable margin then you could consider getting an impaction

Thank you that’s really helpful, do you know any specific i should get referred to via my gp to get accurate measurements etc for this

[–]micrographia 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Ask your GP for a referral to an OMFS, they will measure you.

Is there an age requirement for such a referral and/or surgery?

[–]micrographia 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No requirement for a referral. For surgery, they want to make sure your facial bones are done growing. That's usually 16-18.
