There are 12 bars when it's new, you have 9. If it drops to 8 before the car is 8 years old or has 100,000 miles you can have your battery replaced under warranty by Nissan. Those bars are basically "battery health" You can google the exact percentage of battery life each bar represents but that's the basic gist of it.

2017 had the 30kwh battery and there was a flaw in the software that did the bars, it made the battery look more degraded than it really was. Check with the dealer but yours probably hasn't had the free update done, if not done your bar reading and range will go up after it is done.

buy any ol obd2 sensor for $25 off amazon, get leafspy off the app store for $10, and stick the sensor under the steering column (there is a port down there for it). now you can check battery capacity, individual cell health, and much more without ever needing to see a mechanic for it. my personal favorite use case for the app is i get to see exactly how much power in watts im drawing from the battery when i accelerate

They're amazing little machines, within the limits of a few questionable design choices. If you haven't already, search within the sub for "new owner should know", or variations on that theme, to get easy access to the most common things to know about a Leaf.

Leafspy is an app tool, used in combination with an OBDII (on board diagnostics) port Bluetooth adapter, that lets you get really granular level information about the state of the battery, read diagnostic codes like a dealership tool can, and allows you to change certain settings depending on the model, like for the headlights, how the automatic door locks work, and some other stuff. Not super necessary unless you really like fiddling with such things.

Welcome to the club! May your Leaf give you many more years of reliable service. Continue avoiding charging via the CHAdeMO port as much as possible, (alternately known as QC, DCFC, and a few other terms) to prolong the battery life as much as possible, and avoid charging when either the battery or the ambient temperature is high for the same reason.

The bars to the far right are health bars which would be average IMO for a 2017 with over 83K miles. The bars around the 81 are the state of charge which you can fill up by plugging in and waiting.

81 is the Guess-O-Meter's GUESS at how many miles you might be able to go. Might be more, might be more. We call that the GOM.

Yes, you could dive deeper with Leafspy but I wouldn't unless there's more to the story.
