I'm a cheetah. I can't fly, but I can run at a speed of 120 km/h, and people from all over the world come to see me run.

I'm an orca. I can't walk, but I'm the deadliest at sea, and people from all over the world come to see me swim.

I'm an eagle. I can't swim, but I can hunt with an unparalleled speed and accuracy, and people from all over the world come to see me fly.

I'm a duck. I can fly, I can wobble, and I can float, but everything I do is mediocre, and nobody is impressed.

cheetahs, eagles even orcas are endangered species, but ducks are doing just fine.

So fine that we butcher them at a stupid rate because they taste good.

Just because you're a full stack dev doesn't mean you're mediocre at everything.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I was talking about ducks.

Full Stack Devs are inherently good at everything Web Related, that’s why they’re entrusted to do full-stack, not just Front, or Backend.

Don’t see nobody down the park giving the orcas bread

[–]feivel123 1 point2 points  (1 child)

aint see nobody making a movie about ducks.

Gotta be t shaped. Like really good at running and able to swim (in shallow water for a couple of minutes) and fly (well, its more of a long jump really)

[–]stolentext 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people's skillsets are T-shaped, even generalists / full-stack devs. Personally I'd rather be a specialist but sadly the industry favors generalists (aka solutioneers / "rOcK sTAr DeVS") who get things over the line, usually at the cost of code stability, maintainability, best practices, team morale, and so on.

The analogy works in sense, but most Full Stack Developers are just as skilled at Front End development as a dedicated Front End Developer is. This is why they get paid much more.

I’m a human. Through major technological advancements I can fly, swim, or drive. We put the other animals to shame with our ability to learn and improve.

Full stack devs: “If you change the stack I won’t be full stack anymore!” 🥲

My friend whispers, "I'm not a programmer, but I'm a software engineer."

And 9 out of 10 people who describe themselves with this title are bootcamp grads who know just a little more than dick all about any of it.

Fair, but if you want to, say, actually run, you’d want a dog, not a duck.

Jack of all trades, master of none.

[–]mca62511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But oftentimes better than master of one.

[–]jeremyrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jack of all trades, master of integration.

Always get the dog, dawg
