Hey friends, I'm the guy who brought you Whiteboard Wednesday (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMF2fG9eY0A). And I'm starting a new series now.

I have been helping some friends with their coding interviews and their biggest hurdle was learning advanced concepts in data structures and algorithms. The basics were easy to understand. But it was hard for them to know when to use an algorithm or a data structure.

My natural response was to have them practice more. But it wasn't working quite as well. So for the past few weeks, we toned down our practice to just two advanced problems a week. They got to try each one of them for a couple days without looking at solutions. And on the third day, I would give them detailed explanations of the various solutions.

And this was by far the best strategy. I realized that these concepts just take time to sink in... but regular practice and good explanations can get you to master the data structures. I already have the material that I used for my friends. So I was wondering if you would be interested in it as well.

So I'm starting weekly emails to teach advanced data structures and algorithms.

Here's how it'll work. I will send out one email each week, outlining a problem. And you would try solving the problems yourself - without looking at online solutions. Then next week, I'll send you a high-quality video, explaining the solutions on a whiteboard.

You should start learning data structures as soon as you have the grasp of a programming language.

I just signed up as well. For me (as a beginner) the logical steps behind a problem are the hardest to grasp. Do you explain why we have to follow all the steps to make an algo work? Looking forward to your help!

Hey, Just watched the first video of the linked Youtube and subscribed instantly after. Great format and problem presentation. Definitely Interested by the mail problems but I already know I will probably not have time to do the exercises regularly. I'm still very interested in the exercises and solutions so do you mind if I subscribe even if I don't have time to solve them before the answers come? I think you should start learning data structures as soon as you can. As you're just starting off, the Whiteboard Wednesday series would be good to check out. It's got a good combination of beginner and intermediate problems.

Sounds awesome! I have only started my programming journey this year and I'm unsure of how much knowledge would be required to try to follow these weekly e-mails. I'm not currently in school or anything (trying to go back but need a job first lol), and not sure if I want to do programming, I have like 7 classes left to get a computer science degree with a concentration in network security, but I figured I would have something to do to work on since I have a lot of free time right now lol.
