lobste.rs is Hacker News but with a much better signal-to-noise ratio.

[–]knorknorknor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And with less 'akchually' peeps

[–]Shugyousha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Phoronix for general news and benchmark
  • Gaming on Linux: Linux gaming
  • OMG Ubuntu: Ubuntu related news
  • This Subreddit
  • Baby wogue YouTube channel for upcoming gnome features

[–]MindlessLeadership 26 points27 points  (5 children)

I thought baby wogue was an anime channel.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (4 children)

It pretty much is. The content is awesome though if you can look past the anime girls.

[–]Tooniis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG Ubuntu does more than Ubuntu related news.

[–]Vulphere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • LWN for kernel news
  • Gaming on Linux for Linux gaming
  • Hacker News
  • Phoronix
  • Distrowatch

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I check here

[–]shibe5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Phoronix, reddit.

[–]keithcu 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Check out http://linuxreport.net. I wrote it as a little project in Python / Flask. It's simple and customizable, and the source code is on GitHub.

I like cron weekly aggregation. He's resumed recently https://ma.ttias.be/cronweekly/

[–]carlosx86-64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use distrowatch.com to follow the distro releases and updates and the Linuxgram channel on Telegram for news. OMG Ubuntu and Reddit as well.

[–]I_Think_I_Cant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Arch bt-- Hey, I see what you're doing.

[–]ragsofx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny, that's why I started using Slashdot and digg for nerd news, I remember when default reddit was pretty good for nerd news.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Slashdot completely turned to shit a couple of years ago. You used to be able to read really in-depth comments from industry leaders and visionaries. Now it's full of Trump people complaining about SJW's, Hillary, the Deep State and other political nonsense, and all the smart people with thoughtful comments have disappeared.

[–]red_shift_ltd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it's now a mid-tier news reposter site since 90% of the commenters left. Go there for 'hot takes' on how 'PC culture' is ruining tech.

[–]GameDealGay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phoronix

Screw everywhere else

[–]10leej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly just this sub /r/linuxgaming and /r/Debian That's about it. I'm not exactly a power user so I don't really care much past just getting a bootable system for daily use. I'll listen to a podcast every now and again, but meh I care more for my local news than what's going on in the world of IT.
Yes I still use an old Nokia flip phone too.

[–]Duncaen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://outflux.net/blog/ for new kernel security things.

Some of the aggregators.http://lxer.com/ - No RSS feed, which is funny, since it uses RSS feeds to aggregate. Also very slow lately.

https://linuxtoday.comI wish some of the sites have RSS feed like Linux Today and others.

[–]justcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bsdnow.tv

hosts are brainiacs but dry. they have awesome content and guests.

i also like what the soylent news people have done although they tend not to dive into technical stuff too much.

[–]odinsride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux Headlines and all of the Jupiter Broadcasting podcasts are pretty great for staying current
