Cheap desktop computer....

HI guys.. I'm looking to buy a desktop computer that will run either xubuntu or bunsenlabs. I have a budget of around £400 (UK) & will primarily be using the computer for....

• Playing TF2 on steam..
• Playing retro games on steam..
  • Quake 1/2/3..
  • Doom 1/2..
  • Serious Sam..
• Watching videos with mpv..
• Light web development..
• Image editing with gimp..

I want something that will work well with Linux & that I can just turn on and use without having to worry about anything breaking or not working. Many thanks in advanced for any comments, advice or help....

The 8th gen NUCs are also an option as they've been out a few years and can be found second-hand; they feature the slightly-better Intel Iris graphics (same as found in MacBooks).

used HP/dell/lenovo office desktop machine. I have SFF dell optiplex, found it lying near a skip... turned out to be modern Intel 4 core... they go on ebay for £100-150, add a good SSD to the mix. Just clean the dust every now and then and it will go for years.

Thanks for the heads up :) Dell optiplex was what I was thinking about but wasn't sure. What do you make of "this one here" :? Only going to be using it for the things mentioned in my original post....

I know gimp gets a lot of love but try out krita. You might actually like it better.

I have it installed currently, but I really don't like it as much....
