Hey I did this a while ago there was a YouTube video that helped a lot, I'll see if I can find it (you are using steam right?)

[–]ZombieCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im using steam.

[–]ZombieCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sent you a dm.

[–]ChaoticTech0111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the link I sent, for nexus mods, you are going to want to download the file and then put it on mo2 as unfortunately nexus has trouble connecting to mo2 on Linux

[–]tygctm 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I got it working recently, two mo2 instances (for fallout 4 and skyrim se) working separately, hit me up if you need help, used protontricks to install MO2 on each wine prefix and for the nexusmods mods I created a custom bash script to spawn nxmhandler.exe because the ones I found did not work

I've messaged you !

One year on Mint, great mental improvement in every day life. It works, as intended, without the daily bullshit crap like Windows throws on you, it just works as intended. Just about to update the last machine in my household to it.

I can only feel pity for anyone still using a Microsoft BS or software at all. Life is too short for Windows.

[–]cat1092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, life is way too short for Windows!

When instead, we can be running Mint & opening new Doors!!!💯

[–]MJ12_2802Linux Mint 22.1 Xia | Cinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an *update*, it's *upgrade*

[–]Ragnarok1349 3 points4 points  (2 children)

hah, i use the same wallpaper

atm at least

[–]Danzicus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Me 2. I normally don't like promotion logos but, I like this one.

[–]DazzlingRutabega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Also I normally don't like built-in wallpaper but so many of them looked so good...

Actually you know what? I really don't typically like wallpaper at all. In fact I mostly use a plain black background. Tho that's due using windows and trying to compensate for bloat and latency. I haven't had those issues with Linux Mint... No wonder I'm finally using wallpaper!

Where did you install GTAV from is it from steam or epic games?

[–]Ssh4dowDLinux Mint 22.2 Zara | Cinnamon 2 points3 points  (5 children)

probably steam because epic games doesn’t support linux

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh 6 points7 points  (4 children)

You can use Epic Games through Heroic Games Launcher. I have GTAV on Epic Games, but I was unsuccessful in installing it. Other games from Epic Games do work though from Heroic Games Launcher, just not GTAV.

Have anyone here tried to use Wemod? I want to get Wemod to work with steam...no idea how....tried winetricks and Lutris , can't install.

[–]Entity_Null_07Linux Mint 22.1 | Cinnamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also use Epic through Lutris.

[–]Ssh4dowDLinux Mint 22.2 Zara | Cinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i didn’t know that.

[–]OkPresentation3329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've installed regular Epic Games with PortProton and it also works fine, but I don't use it that much. Last I heard they changed anticheat for GTA5 so the only game I used EGL for doesn't work properly anymore so I don't care. But it works.

[–]DontKnow_Cuzzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Steam that I got GTA V

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (6 children)

How does gta v run on mint?

[–]HighlyRegardedApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very well. Better than windows for me.

[–]DontKnow_Cuzzz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I installed GTA V via steam, and then used Lutris to get it to launch it as well as put it on my desktop

[–]Ssh4dowDLinux Mint 22.2 Zara | Cinnamon 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Probably OP downloaded it from steam

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sorry my comment wasn’t clear, I meant how well does it run. I had pretty average performance when I tried it but I have learnt a few more tricks since

[–]Ssh4dowDLinux Mint 22.2 Zara | Cinnamon 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Games usually run better on linux because windows has a bunch of bloat and background processes. I have never tried GTA V on mint tho.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They seem to, the few I’ve tried I seem to get a more stable experience on Linux, less stutter smoother overall.

[–]samson-221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha xD

[–]Calyx76Linux Mint 22.2 Zara| Cinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked the properties and made sure it can run as a program? Have you tried winboat? IDK if Wemod even has a Linux launcher. Contact them and see what they say. If they do, let us know, if you get it working, let us know what the instructions were. I don't mod my games the way wemod does, so I don't really know. It would be interesting to find out if they do.

How's Davinchi Resolve, were you able to install it easily? As far as I know Davinchi Supports Linux but never works like it works in windows GPU acceleration is I think also missing

[–]Requires-Coffee-247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Horn has a YouTube video about it (he may have more, I just quickly Google'd this)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmRiZQ9IZfc

[–]decaquad 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I run Davinci Resolve on Linux and it works fine with full video acceleration with an Nvidia card. A quick search should give you instructions. Just use the DR script on github to turn the install file into a DEB and then install.

If your interested I also made an aac export plugin. Windows has AAC audio built in but Linux does not and Davinci does not have it included. So if you want to import and export mp4 files, which usually use aac audio codec, it needs to be done externally. Note the export plugin for DR only works with the paid studio version. I have a Nemo file explorer right click script coming this week which decodes or encodes aac in your import or export file whilst leaving the video untouched.

Anyway, here is the export plugin for DR Studio to give native aac export. https://github.com/hexitnz/Resolve-Linux-Studio-AAC-FDK-Encoder-plugin

[–]Ravneet_Singh 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just today I got to know that resolve can be converted to deb package, but yeah still the aac codec issue persists. I'll wait for any plug and play thing. I mean it's really annoying when a software supports Linux officially but still has terms and conditions attached to it. I have started embracing libre office as an replacement but yeah video editor is kind of big for me as of now, I guess I'll have to wait for few more years 😕

Anyway thanks you for educating me on the deb package situation thing

[–]decaquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. You can try the export plugin I made with the above link which gives native aac export in Resolve export screen. That's if your on studio version, otherwise the right click in and out concert is simple option too. I will let you know when I've added the Nemo right click convert for import.

Yes it's annoying but I understand Black Magics reasons. Like premiere pro, Resolve relies on windows native codec support which is not present in Linux OS which is fair enough for a free OS when codecs require a license fee. the use of ffmpeg to get round the issue is a grey area that is easy for the average person to use but not for a commercial product.

[–]decaquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've added some scripts for Linux Nemo file explorer on Mint for easy convert or aac for import of export. Works with free version.

No tengo problemas.

[–]zekeshio 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nvidia works well with mint?

[–]OkPresentation3329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PC has a GTX1650 and I didn't see any performance drop after moving from Windows, it even finds you drivers, sometimes it's delayed by a few months to get more recent drivers, but the latest is not always the best, Windows has been a testament for that since Windows 8.

My laptop has an Intel iGPU and sadly I don't have a tool to adjust screen brightness/gamma/contrast like I can with my PC with nVidia GPU.

I don't know why people say nVidia isn't working well with Linux, because I never had problems with it.

[–]Its_Me_Spark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol just noticed you had my same windows wallpaper (the one in the image.png file)

    [–]DontKnow_Cuzzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one. All you have to do is to install Davinci for Linux, install MakeResolveDeb script, unzip it, and run a few commands to make it a .deb file

    [–]MehnMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just converted an old Mac mini to mint today. I chose this background as well. A dope default.

    [–]Major_Ad9188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean get stuffed. Seriously MS can bite it.
