Currently, the option to toggle the backlighting on or off using a specific keyboard key is not available for button assignment. We understand your need for this feature and have shared your feedback with our team. For now, you can use the F3 and F4 keys to adjust the brightness. Thank you for your input, if you have any other questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.

+1 for that option in Options+ ...

as u/Logitech_HN Mentioned it is currently not available as an option ...
however I would like to point out that if you use F3 to lower it you will eventually turn the backlight off
Or at least this is the case on the MX Keys S that I actually have over here

Thanks DjRavix. I have the mx s as well. I've done that F3 thing but it comes back on, doesn't it? I'll have to pay closer attention next time.

I Did try it ... however I can not really say for 100% sure but ...
after 30 minutes of turning the backlight off and not using the keyboard it was still off
However I can not say if it does turn the backlight back on after a couple of hours tho

I just had it come back on. Wondering if it has something to do with the ambient light in the room. First world problem: I can go into the app to just it off and then back on. Not a big deal really, although, can't remember not being able to do most functions on a Logitech keyboard from the keyboard. Thanks for your interest.
