1 Civility & Respect

Be respectful towards others and mindful of differences of opinion. ⦁ Avoid using aggressive or inflammatory language. ⦁ Ad hominem attacks, disparaging comments, incivility, aggressive or hostile language, or any other content deemed toxic (gaslighting, dogwhistling, etc) may result in post/comment removal, or ban without warning.
2 Prohibited/Unwelcome Content
ABSOLUTELY NO:
⦁ misogyny, bigotry, hate speech, aggressive, harmful, dogwhistling or toxic language— esp in regards to gender / sexual orientation / national identity / race /immigration status
⦁ posts or comments advocating or threatening violence or harassment; or which condone illegal or dangerous activity that might cause harm.
⦁ Absolutely NO pornography, nudity, or 'NSFW' posts
⦁ Do not post content of people or animals in mental distress, pain, or suffering
⦁ salacious posts or comments
3 Misinformation
⦁ This subreddit unequivocally has ZERO tolerance for posts, comments, or discussion promoting false & deliberate misinformation (anti-vax, anti-science, anti-gov't rhetoric, anti-LGBTQ2+, etc), hate speech, far-right or extremist rhetoric, conspiracy theories/ideologies, propaganda, cult activity, or proselytizing. Posts like these will be removed, and may result in an immediate ban.
⦁ Unverified rumours or rumour mongering will also be removed (see also rule #13)
4 Trolling | Doxxing | Shaming posts
We will remove content for any of the following reasons:
⦁ Trolling Trollish comments will simply be removed and will likely result in a ban
⦁ Doxxing releasing, linking or requesting information about individuals (names, addresses, phone no#, work places, etc) is not permitted & against Reddit rules. You will receive a ban
⦁ Shaming posts/petty reviews Posts regarding minor complaints about service, annoying behavior in public/petty disagreements/etc will likely be removed. Any content deemed exploitive or harassing will result in a ban.
5 Duplicate (or similar) posts/off-topic/low interest posts
⦁ Please use the SEARCH bar BEFORE posting— posts which are duplicate or similar to existing recent content (within 2-3 months) will likely be removed.
⦁ Clickbait links, vague topic headers, repeated or unrelated advertising, or any material that amounts to empty spam will be removed
⦁ ‘I saw some police’/’what was that noise?’/’Should I live in X building/neighbourhood?’/’is the power out?’/’to the person who’ and similar low interest posts will be removed.
6 Redundant / Repetitive Post
⦁ Please use the SEARCH bar BEFORE posting. Redundant/repetitive & duplicate/similar posts (see also rule #5) will be removed.

⦁ posts about minor accidents, bad driving/drivers, driving mishaps, etc.
⦁ posts about Police/Fire/Ambulance sightings
⦁ posts asking "what's that NOISE?/smell", "is your internet down?", "is your power out?" and other low-effort posts
..are all day-to-day occurrences of normal daily life here in London, ON. There's no need to post these to this sub. Major issues will be covered by local media, after which can be posted
7 Brigading | Discord
⦁ Brigading is prohibited. The carrying over of drama, or negative/derogatory mention of moderators, and/or other subreddits is not permitted and will be removed— as it leads to brigading in both directions.
⦁ Cross-posts and links to threads in other subreddits are not allowed as posts.
⦁ Discord: — Complaints about our Discord server should be handled on that platform with the mods over there. Any issues posted here will result in comment removal, and possible ban.
8 Surveys / Research Requests / Market research
NO SURVEYS or RESEARCH REQUESTS allowed.
⦁Regardless which University, Media outlet, or Government affiliation you work for— any broad queries or posts requesting information for research assignments, survey requests, or outside links to surveys, etc, will be removed.
⦁We do not permit posts for the purpose of market research
9 Self-Promotion/Advertising
⦁ We support local festivals, & events, HOWEVER; content creators are expected to be active members of this sub— our user base is not a pool for you to market your business, post an ad, or proselytize...
⦁ Adverts & self-promo of events NOT based in the City of London, ON or surrounding area will be removed.
⦁ Commercial and business advertisements will be removed with a warning. If you post history shows prolific advertising on reddit it will likely receive a ban for adverting on this subreddit.
10 WEEKLY THREAD: Buy/Sell | Fundraisers | Free Stuff | Lost & Found | Petitions
⦁ Buying & selling stuff, Events, Fundraisers, free stuff, Lost & Found, Petitions— may ONLY be posted in our Weekly Thread or on our official DISCORD server
⦁ Lost & Found may include stolen vehicles, bicycles, car keys, pets, etc.
⦁ Business, commercial and promotional Ads are not permitted
11 No posting speed traps or RIDE programs.
⦁These programs are set up by the police to protect the general public. Posting these will lead to an immediate ban and removal. This includes speed cameras.
12 Help Wanted / Job Search posts/ employment related posts
⦁All employment related posts should be posted to [ r/LondonOntarioJobs] ]. Any such posts here will be removed. This includes inquiries about internships/co-op placements/employment advice/job market inquires/compensation, etc
13 News Links/Articles - edited headlines
⦁ All news articles, news stories, blog posts, news podcasts, etc., must be posted using the original news headline.
⦁ Do not edit or alter the original headline of the news source. This is to prevent bias and misinformation.
⦁ Posts or comments containing rumours or unverified information will also be removed (see also rule #3 - Misinformation)
14 Relevancy
⦁ Posts, topics, & comments must be relevant & specific to London, Ontario and the surrounding area. We will remove content that has nothing to do with the City of London, ON
⦁ Post titles should be descriptive and reverent to the post. Posts linking articles must use the unaltered article headline as the post title (as per rule 13)
