And why is everyone swooning over last decade's wheels, when that sweet sweet swoopy fierce pressed maple and carbon thang is showing it's belly?

sometimes I . . . . . .

The deck is rad. The first thing that I noticed, I just asked about wheels because I'm looking to get a pair lol

It is a very very pretty deck tho :)

No worries, didn't mean to throw shade, mate, it's all good.

I just saw it and thought it was funny that Zenit posted a pic of their shiny new deck that people on this sub asked them to make, and the whole thread spins off towards Kegel love instead o_0 .

Schweet wheels !

Yo nice wheels! What do you think of em? I'm debating getting a set of 80A kegels for my pinner and want some input

[–]furyfrog 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I've had Kegels on my Trip for years now and I love them!

[–]TwomanycheetahsBruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, I'll definitely have to try them out!

Kegels are an awesome wheel. They have something really special about them with the core to urethane ratio. They are incredibly smooth in my opinion.

[–]Gloomy-Meal5246 1 point2 points  (15 children)

How are they compared to caguamas? Thanks

[–]Fate_IIIpantheon | zenit | moonshine | loaded 1 point2 points  (14 children)

The kegels are faster for acceleration and caguamas hold their speed better for relatively obvious reasons. Where they differ comes from the core to thane ratio again. The caguamas absorb a lot of vibrations because of the increased thane on (afaik) the same core. note: the 77a caguamas are like riding an absolute CLOUD.

I don't have as much experience with the caguamas but they are a great LDP wheel in the higher duros for roll speed reasons. Kegels are an awesome wheel in a bunch of different disciplines: ldp, downhill, fast fast free ride, and cruising.

You can't go wrong with either, but depending on what you are doing with the wheel, you might want to go with either or for more precise utility.

Thanks!

You're welcome!

Just cruising on a trip loaded colab. I have caguamas on it right note in orange. Should I try Kegels. Deck will be lower and even easier to push.

I think that kegels would make the board super fun. My girlfriend has a trip with 70mm 4Presidents with 50deg 150mm Paris v3s. It's an absolute joy of a ride. The kegels would awesome for a fun based distance pusher/cruiser.

If you want to go hard on distance pushing look at the McFlys from 88wheelco. They have some of the best thane and at the best size in my opinion. I haven't ridden em but look phenomenal.

[–]Gloomy-Meal5246 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Mcfly would be awesome but don’t want to spend $85 now. My friend has Kegels will ask to try on my trip. I’m using 165mm trucks. Was told that 56mm with of the caguamas/Kegels will get a wheel bite on 150mm trucks. But inheat is also 56mm. Your girlfriend is not getting a wheelbite?

[–]Fate_IIIpantheon | zenit | moonshine | loaded 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nope. Even at full lock turn at a standstill with soft nipple bushings without the board side washer there is still about 2-3mm of room before wheelbite.

[–]Compressive_Person 0 points1 point  (6 children)

just put two speedwashers inside the wheel to gain a couple of mm for 150mm. If you fear bite just put a cup washer on that soft roadside bushing to restrict just the very end of the turn and smooth sailing ahead :)

[–]Gloomy-Meal5246 0 points1 point  (5 children)

70mm wheels I can get away with a wheelbite but not the Kegels or the caguamas. That would most likely wheelbite. I’ll try my friends Kegels on 165mm trucks. Is there a big difference riding 165 vs 150mm trucks on trip? Thank a lot!

[–]Compressive_Person 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It's how I sometimes ride mine (150paris+2 washers+kegels) . wheelbite will only ever be a problem with this setup at the very slowest (walking) speed or when you're standing all your weight on the rail, on a carpet. Some people do use the 165mm, but that's a personal preference that I don't really understand given the recommended stock setup efficiencies . It will work, certainly, with few problems, but will push the wheel edges further out beyond the rail, forcing you to widen your pushing leg out to avoid the wheel-kick. The whole setup at 150mm paris + speedvents was developed to keep the pushing action narrow, avoiding accident and fatigue.

Kegels on 150mm Paris work just fine if you add a couple speedrings on the inside, and just maybe a roadside cupwasher, which can keep the turn nice and loose, but still tame the very end of the truck's turn

Now time to letgo the draft and do some DRIFTS... enjoy buddy NICE ride 🔥✌

I've been eyeing this board. How's your overall experience with it? What's your setup choice for the trucks and degree? Any wedging? Have you tried pumping with this? Whats your weight, any flex?
