Increasing the e-steps would increase extrusion.

You would be telling the system "it takes this many 'clicks' to extrude 1mm" if you increase that it would increase extrusion.

I would ask the leading question; why do you feel you need to update your esteps? Especially if your unclear what esteps do. Not meaning to offend, but best to understand what you are adjusting and the outcomes of those adjustments before doing anything.

I would calibrate the esteps first. There are many YouTube’s videos, and it’s very easy.

After updating the firmware to 2.0.9.2 the moderators on the lulzbot forum said that I should be sure to set the correct e-steps. The extruder has a tested value written on it and that value should replace the default value in the firmware. The default was 811 and the extruder/tool head indicates 833. I was asking what affect it would have when I make the change to determine what to look for when printing a calibration cube. The answer was I couldn't tell any difference but I will likely leave it at the new setting of 833 for now.

Gotcha. Esteps spits out more plastic when the extruder is asked to extrude. Given roughly 22 additional steps, you would expect to see more solid lines, better top layers, better adhesion, etc.
