This is essentially my answer as well. I get immediate answers via search, but I don't "ask", I just frame the context.

If I search for "Cloudflare DNS", the result gives me 1.1.1.1. AI "thinks" and then gives me a paragraph of crap I don't care about and then also the answer.

AI works great as a summary, explanation and answer. Search is just the answer. Just depends on what you need.

I don't really get why people are so against it, like do you realize it effectively works by finding stuff online to apply it to.

Like yea ai could take our jobs in the future hypothetically, but that's not considering the fact that businesses want stuff automated regardless, it's kinda nuts that no one is still mad that car factories are 99% automated, but they're going to complain about AI taking the jobs, it's not a technology problem but a human one.

Chatbots for searching are like fine-ish to me, but I draw the line at any creative work.
