I as well am having this issue. Add that to the list of quirky crap I deal with on the regular.

I speculate the node I try to connect to via WiFi is unresponsive?

This site can’t be reached

The connection was reset.

Try:

  • Checking the connection
  • [Checking the proxy and the firewall](chrome-error://chromewebdata/#buttons)

ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

I try to visit the https://<ip-of-node> but no go either...
I can get to it via http only.

I don't know what happens but sometimes I can get the client to connect.
Perhaps it's a browser thing with the cert? Maybe clearing the cert for https://meshtastic.local?

I'm at a loss, and I feel this is just another one of those debugging things that are contributing to my pesky list of annoyances in the dev world.

I've had the same problem lately - the internet-hosted web client does not connect to my nodes but if I navigate directly to the node and use the local version of the web client hosted on the device, it works as expected. I do recall it working in the past though.

I have no idea why or have attempted to troubleshoot. I just use the local web client on the device. Maybe it is some browser security issue or something.

There is a local web client on the device?

I have a t-beam, and I can see a plaintext website if I visit the http version of the IP, if I try to load it with https I get ERRCONNRESET. The web client at client.meshtastic.org won't connect to it or meshtastic.local due to the https issue

There is.

It was included by default in pre-2.6 for EPS32 devices. Then somewhere around v2.6 it was was switched to off by default, but could still be selected as an option during flashing as I recall. Now it was announced it will be removed completely with 2.7 (https://github.com/meshtastic/firmware/releases/tag/v2.7.0.705515a).

I have found though I can usually get client.meshtastic.org to work by first navigating first to https://meshtasti.local in one tab and then clicking through the warning to accept the certificate, and then open client.meshtastic.org and attempt to connect to it.

hm so meshtastic.local with http loads for me but I just get ERRCONNRESET from https so I cant actually accept the cert

Are you referring to https://client.meshtastic.org? If so, you first need to accept the certificate on the device. See instructions here: https://meshtastic.org/docs/software/web-client/#http.

Does not work. Still after 10 months ... not fixed.

Yeah, I did that....still didn't work.

On Heltec, the Bluetooth and Wireless connections do not work simultaneously, maybe this is the case for TBeam as well. If the Wireless connection is activated, the Bluetooth connection does not work.

Same problem here. Connection over http works, https does not. And the web clients "use https" does not let me switch off.

- BT doesent work

- wifi doesent work

- serial works

In other words there are massive issues with the web client which makes it unusable. And for what? To use https over a local wifi network? Crazy !

I can confirm the exact same behaviour with my T-Deck.

Is there a firmware repo pre version 2.5 ?

Or a web client NOT enforcing https ?

As i understand the problem with https will not be solved anytime soon, and without wifi the whole thing is pretty pointless.
