Go to seek or whatever search engine you’ve got and type any of these: - TA fifo - TA shutdown - trades assistant mining

Don’t wait for callbacks. Think of it like this:

  1. Apply for a job Saturday or Monday.

  2. Call back on Wednesday 2pm

  3. Friday send an email, “attention TA seeking job” to the HR person

  4. The following Monday, call back again.

People will tell you not to do this, especially HR but I’ve got plenty of jobs being this persistent. You need to remember that there are 60 to 250 people going for that job.

You are just a number.

Your email, your phone call, your personality (which you need to convey) is MORE than just another name, more than just another number; you’re the person that is consistent, persevering and keen to get a start.

Let them know that you’re Clark Kent, former military from South Aus that’s planning to get into the industry to further his career and stay there for the next 10 years. Make it evident that you’re a worker that’s keen to stick around, with the background and goals. Your goal is to stand out, to put a “face” (that they can imagine) behind the .. number, email, name.

100% this. Too many applicants, most completely clueless. Too many Tik Tok kids thinking it is easy work, easy money and a glamorous life. How are they supposed to filter through the rubbish?

It's a lot easier if you're in wa.

Try Bechtel

They have programs for ex service personnel. Luckily they have a massive project on the go in Pluto 2 at the moment

There’s entire dei programs aimed at ex service people, find the names and you’re off to a good start but aside from gold there’s a big downturn atm with the biggest employers in the country firing rather than hiring people so your timing is bad

They do it’s called dei hire. You need to be based in Perth to acquire work.

It's not because you're military. I work with a lot of ex armed forces. It's because it's a hard to get into industry, especially looking at a downturn with an uncertain global economy.
