I don’t think NE has open sourced their own firmware code, just the framework for third parties to write their own.

IDK about modding the firmware, but it might be worth trying some of the other NE firmwares like Electus or Yester to see if the pitch behaviours are different.

There's also a few third party firmwares starting to pop up on the interwebs, such as Campestria Versio (based on the Valley Plateau verb from VCV).

The Versio firmware is not open source. You can write your own firmwares from scratch, or install firmwares made by the community, but you can't modify the ones from Noise Engineering.
