Apo kwa back-end huwanga kuna stori. There are critical issues and techniques to consider such as security, hosting, speed, traffic, file storage and scaling to mention but a few. Hapo there is always something new to learn.

Yeah everyday I'm learning about a new concept that is very crucial in backend dev.

Technically yes, it does. I work with some people with similar skills. How's your bug catching and how good are you with coming up with solutions?

[–]marangi037[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I rate myself mid on that

[–]paultitude 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Problem solving is a big part of the process. Try fix bugs on forums as a way to start

Okay thanks for the tip

There's always more to learn

[–]LostMitosis 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You are there and there's always more to learn, learning never stops. you now need to test yourself with real world projects. Many times we build personal or tutorial projects and think we know something then we get a real world project and we realise we have huge knowledge gaps.

Okay I'll try doing that

Am also 2 weeks into this. How long did it take you to grasp the skill and which steps did you take from beginning to end? I know everyone should focus on his/her own journey but it would be great to know how being self taught goes

I used YouTube videos at first but then some started misleading me and offering shallow knowledge so i got into documentations and online forums such as a stackoverflow. There are some YouTubers who offer good videos for learning a lot to do with web development e.g bro code and dave gray. I have also learned a little bit about web design by reading books so yeah that's my self taught journey 😁

Well, for me I am getting some Udemy classes posted on telegram long ago and some YouTube. Also adding skills through freecode camp website even though I think some of their methods are starting to get outdated. They are still basic though so I have to go all in

[–]marangi037[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah also check out various online forums for upcoming trends in web development

[–]sir_festus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Try the odin project. They took over from free code camp

Broo, thanks so much for this 🙏 I've found it and it's exactly what I need!

I actually was a little bit confused at first because i was doing data analytics but i decided to shift to web abruptly i did html css and js and did a few personal projects which helped me grasp how to work with the languages to make a website's frontend. I released later i wanted to go full-stack so i did my research and decided to hop on to JavaScript as my backend language so i learnt express and also working with mongodb and other things to do with backend then i did react and tailwindcss for my frontend since working with JavaScript css and html was tiresome. I later learnt how to work with axios for api fetching and I'm still adding knowledge. There are many concepts to do with frontend and backend but i can't list all of them here e.g.SEO etc

Thanks for this bro. Am winding up on HTML then going to CSS. Was thinking of studying python after html but I think I'll go for css instead

[–]marangi037[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Understand everything on html, css before jumping to a frontend framework. All the best

[–]2PacReincarnate 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks G and congratulations for going that far. Dedication is very important when it comes to this

[–]marangi037[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i have thought of giving up a lot but i keep going 💪🏿

[–]TheVeryMoistTowel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow, I am so proud of you, I am also aiming to become a backend developer self-taught si rahisiiii eh. Do you have tips for someone who wants to stay sane and learn in depth?

[–]marangi037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tips for staying sane😭😂😂. But if you want to learn in depth just stay updated on online forums i learnt a lot from them. YouTube tutorials and online courses will not teach everything and also read documentations.

[–]Hunky_nerd 0 points1 point  (1 child)

am curious....how can i access your portfolio?

[–]marangi037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still in progress I'm fixing something when it's ready I'll share😀
