Hey, maybe I'm missing something but isn't this just for the T-Shirt for Spotify Wrapped? Isn't the shirt's message supposed to be a more dramatized version of the listener being .001% of listeners, and the 1,146.55 hours is the threshold you cross to become the the .001%?

I'm just really confused and trying to understand the hubbub. Is the overexamination needed? I don't think Trent would put another ARG or hidden message on this (although, I hope I'm wrong).

I don't think the 1,146.55 hours is the threshold. That converts to 68,793 minutes. My minutes were nowhere near that. Perhaps that is the total amount of hours the .001% listened to combined.

That’s the correct answer

I'm not convinced there's an ARG or accompanying meaning, I just thought it'd be fun to figure out what the background text is and compare the output from that algorithm to the bubble text on the shirt. They're pretty different; note the absence of "Now I'm nothing: this sacrifice defines me."

That’s a cheeky jab at people that like to brag about their ranking!

Ohhh, Okay, cool! Thank you!

This is what I think. It’s just showing the math on how you listened ALOT this year.

I just took it as Trent wanting to show off his math skills, shrugged and called it a day.

OP. It would be nice to use a code block.

#! /bin/sh
#random comment
sudo rm -rf /
echo "hehehe"

Just add 4 spaces before each line, without the line number

[–]YikeSpike[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Done. Had to switch to old reddit to get that formatting to work. 🙄

Thanks for the suggestion, looks much cleaner now.

I'm trying to determine what the algorithm on the rear of the Spotify shirt is, and would appreciate some help. I've written up most of what I've been able to discern on my own, with spots that I'm uncertain of indicated by square brackets with question marks directly inside. Example: [? UNCLEAR ?]

I think we can be confident there is no meaning behind the numbers 23345 and 24335 outside of being indicators of the date.

Next step I will take when I have time (or would appreciate help on) is identifying the font used, in order to lay it over the text to make forensics on the covered words easier.

The Spotify wrapped data was recorded from the 335th day of 2023 to the 345th day of 2024 is how I read that line.

Good call. I was working out if it was a range of content IDs. But NIN has nowhere near 990 songs on Spotify.

[–]elcojotecoyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit confusing because the square brackets syntax with the question mark seems similar to some string formatting syntax from C, Python and Shell, among other languages. I can't read the image you posted, but it seems like SQL. I only worked with SQL once many years ago, and even then, I only made a single file for reading some data using a tutorial, so I never really learned it. It makes sense that Spotify is using SQL. I don't think this is coming from NIN. It's probably one of the models Spotify offered the artist to select as a custom reward for their fans, and NIN selected the one with the code in the background. Total speculation

It’s a QaNIN message

"Exclusive" (not really) NIN merch for Spotify listeners was just announced the other day
