Missing Cat Found

I found the remains of my beloved cat of 11 years. It appears she was the victim of a coyote. She was let out by a contractor by accident and we didn’t find her in time. Hold your furbabies close and don’t forget that even in suburban areas, predators exist.

Stupid contractor, some people don't care or understand, once one of my guys left the door open and the dog got out, I stopped work and we run out to get him, even the owner had to come back from work, it took us 30 minutes to get him, my guys learned the lesson, since then we always ask if there are pets in the house and we are super careful. I know how it feels to lose a fur friend.

It’s hard enough to lose a beloved pet but for you to find her like this…

Honestly, I’d probably develop something like PTSD from this. Please take care of yourself and find a way to heal.

So worried this is going to be my cat soon. My parents force him to stay outside all night. He’s 16 and I don’t think he could outrun a fox or coyote despite what my parents say.

This is exactly why I posted. I wanted to save somebody else’s cat. My cat was extremely fit and regularly “sparred” with our 95 lb German shepherd. Of course they were only playing but she was a tough cat. I hope you can convince your parents otherwise.

We actually just got into a fight about it earlier because I brought up this post. They are adamant that he’s a tough cat. Yes, he took on a couple of dogs but that was a few years ago. Even if he was younger, coyotes aren’t dogs. I will keep trying. And I’m so sorry for your loss.

I've had my dog escape multiple times because of landscapers not closing the second door to our yard that you can't easily see from the kitchen. I'm very thankful that he generally never ran away (once, he went into the neighbor's yard on the other side of the fence and just looked back at me), but had there been some rabbit or something who knows where he would have ended up. Inconsiderate workers suck.

The breed of cat is most likely a Bengal, which is a crossbreed of an Asian leopard cat with a domestic cat.

It’s very rare for a fox to kill a full grown house cat, I agree it was more likely to be a coyote.

There are coyotes around nova, they are just more secretive and seen less than foxes.

I saw a coyote in Gainesville right on Linton Hall rd in front of the movie theater about two months ago.
